So what's this team's greatest strength ??

Our defensive line and our backfield are 2 solid units. Outside of those 2 areas though, yeesh. Question marks galore.

Wake and Long practicing against each other is a strength

Our D lost Bell , Jason T. and Langford. We need the new starters to step up or the D could slip a little.
I like our RB's and special teams . The O line and recievers still need to be sorted out.

I think it might be coaching, which is a good thing. I just for some reason have a lot of faith that this is the group to get it done in Miami. I like the defensive line and the overall talent there, but we could use a huge pass rusher to really complete that unit. I think the offensive line is getting close with three good young players in Long, Pouncey and Martin, but the guards are going to have to be upgraded.

I have a sneaky suspicion though that it is Martin who ends up playing Guard, probably Left, with Incog moving over and Murth at RT.

Literally no chance in hell we drafted Martin to play guard and not RT. Especially for the guy everyone on here thinks is hot stuff, which I honestly don't see. He hasn't played in like a year.

Our line will almost 99% for sure be: Long-Incog-Pouncey-Jerry-Martin

Front 7.

Randy Starks - Pro bowl mauler.
Paul Soliai - Pro bowl beast that plugs up the middle - the main reason our rush defense was 3rd last year.
Jared Odrick - Gave us solid production in what I consider his rookie year.
Cameron Wake - You have to gameplan around him, or you'll regret it. Deserved that extension.
Karlos Dansby - Overpaid, but he's the heart of the defense.
Kevin Burnett- Major upgrade over Channing Crowder, 100 tackle year.
Koa Misi - :tumbleweed:

I agree with the list. But last year as stated by our top LB we are only as good as our cbs when they are on top of their game we cant be stopped. I think it was a jab at Davis and his lack luster effort to start the season.

I think the DLine is top 5. Versatile, elite pass rusher, solid against the run . . . I think it is the strongest unit on the team and it isn't that close.

I also like what we have at RB . . . Bush was amazing last year, 1 cut runners galore with Thomas, Slaton and Miller . . . ideal for a ZBS. Plus they add a pass catching element to an offense that is lacking at WR.

Consistent specialists with Fields, Carp and Denney.

I think the LB group can be a nice surprise with adding a nonstop motor guy like Misi to the unit. With him being a liability as a pass rusher, there was no way he was going to succeed at OLB in the 3-4 anymore.

The OLine could be sneaky good this year. I love the idea of Murtha at LG and by drafting Martin, you really got a grip on your RT spot. Now there will be a huge competition at RG between Incognito, Jerry, Garner and Artis Hicks. Would love if Jerry won the spot, but I think Hicks may be the guy. I'd hope Garner sticks as that versatile lineman everyteam could use. Not sure if Incognito sticks in a ZBS but we'll see.

Next year the Dolphins will draft alot of players for the secondary and I'd bet some linebackers (and pass rushers). The defense will for sure take a step back this year . Dolphin fans overrate this defense heavily. The defense only looks decent against 2nd and 3rd string QB's and poor offenses. Against any good QB they wilt and get picked apart and look quite poor when it counts in 2nd halves.

Hell, even garbage QB's like Colt McCoy and Tebow ran right through miami's defense in critical 4th quarters. This defense wilts under any sort of pressure in pressure situations. They have to get lucky by facing poor QB's who make their own mistakes to actually look good as a defense. Take a look over the past few years to see all the horrible 3rd string caliber QB's Miami has faced in those games where the defense looked decent, pumping the defensive stats. They also can't take the ball away to create turnovers, the lack of playmakers on D is very apparent.

I've made alot of money betting on and against miami over the past few years, and its quite easy to pick with and against them in the right spots from week to week. And the fans overrating of the defense has alot to do with it.

Looking objectively, if Miami were to play against playoff caliber offenses when offenses prepare alot better with in-sync gameplanning and come out gunning with more desperation, this Miami defense will get run over. As the defense is simply not as good as too many of the pom-pom wavers on this site think it is

The team has a long ways to go . Next year will be all about defense like the last 2 drafts were geared towards the offense. I see 6 of 8 draft picks going defense, like 6 of 9 picks went towards the offense this year

The Defense is still the heart of this team IMO. I wish Nolan was still around. I liked his style and have no idea how our new coordinator will run this defense. I am not sure about the 4-3 either. Bottom line. I am not sure about anything. YET!
