he will not be a JET. this w/b something to have him on the other side of JT.

I wouldn't want that. Abraham can't play LDE.

he is a horse/playmaker. he is worth the investment. change of scenery w/b a motivator too.

i'd rather pay up for a stud DE than pay big $$ for a DB b/c of the tight pass int rules

Even with all of wholes that need to be fixed?

That dude is gonna want beaucoups $ and we've got a pretty solid DL leading the league in sacks already. He'd be nice, I wouldn't deny that.

i see priorities for '06 greatness as:

upgrade QB
upgrade LT, C position
upgrade DB position (opposite Travis)
younger on defense

i am in agreement DE is not a priority but it is not also easy to get a playmaker. adding Abraham adds relentless pressure to the qb (opposite JT) and by default improves the DB position. remember Will Poole s/b ready for next yr replacing Howard/Madison fiasco.

Agreed if he comes cheap which I doubt because that is the reason he is leaving the Jets in the first place!

agreed on Roth. but he hasn't shown much this yr.

Abraham is a horse. always in the backfield. commands double teams. can you imagine him and JT together...

I doubt we pick up Abraham. Not just because he is too expensive and he's a malcontent, but we dont really have a place for him.

Sure, Abraham can technically play 3-4 OLB... But the nature of Saban's defense involves the ability to line up with the same personnel in multiple formations. Abraham does not have the all-around skill to be a regular linebacker in the 4-3, and the like.

I think it's much more likely the Dolphins will pick up a linebacker with pass rushing skills. Someone who has good enough pursuit and coverage skills to play consistantly in the 2-point stance.

Personally, I really like the concept of getting Julian Peterson. He's perfect for the role we want. In fact, he's played for Saban before at Michigan State. We could replace Donnie Spragan in the 3-4 and 4-3, and possibly use Peterson as a Robert Mathis type pass rushing specialist in Nickel and Dime packages and replace David Bowens.

So you'd rather have WEAKER cornerbacks then? That makes sense.

"hey it's great, our corners don't get flagged for interference at all because they play 15 yards off the ball and slip in coverage"
