Wannstedt is holding Feeley back!

Theoretically, Feeley would be making even more strides were he not sharing snaps with the first-team offense. But Wannstedt has remained true to his word by splitting practice time between Feeley and incumbent Jay Fiedler.

Just a matter of time.

You can make all the accusations you want about him being a Fiedler lover, but the fact is Feeley would be sharing snaps even if Fiedler weren't here, let's say had we went with Garcia Collins or Warner, you think Feeley would have been handed the job? He needs to battle it out and win the job, not have it handed to him. Granted I want Fiedler out as much as you do, but I also want the best QB for this team that will take us farthest, so if the choice is Fiedler I am behind the team 100%. I don't think it will be just Dave's choice this year as it has been in years past, it will be a a group decision with Trestman, Sullivan, Forrester and maybe even Rick and Wayne throwing in their two cents, so I don't think you can use the "Wanny loves Jay" excuse this year. If he wins the job, he wins the job but IMO no way should Feeley be named the starter yet. The guy needs to be pushed and not have the comfort of knowing that he is the starter regardless of what happens, he needs to earn it.

100% agree

I think this is smart because if you give Feeley 100% and he doesn't look great, then you'd have to rely on Jay starting with not much TC. This way, Feeley can show he deservers it and Jay will prove he will be a soft cushiony pillow should Feeley get hurt.

Splitting time with the starters, only 4 camps under his belt, and the compettition is too close to call.....That's all I need to know. :D

Even if Jay Fiedler only took ONE snap all offseason, Dave will make him the starter week one.

Quick follow up. Does anyone here think that this is a real QB competition? Does anyone think that Dave is really seriously considering not starting Jay Fiedler week one??

Actually I think if Feeley shows any signs of leading the offense, whether or not he outperforms Jay is a moot point because he will be the starter. If Feeley is even remotely near Fiedler, they will start him for several reasons including 1)They don't want to admit a mistake by trading the 2nd round pick and making Rick's first deal look bad 2) the fans and media are desperate for a change 3) last year people finally started to doubt Jay as a QB, including Dave himself. It will be like Fiedler vs Huard in 2000 except that Jay is Damon and AJ is Jay in this situation.

He held Brian Griese back when we were trying to win real games. What makes anybody think he's not going to hold back AJ?

Whats the difference between a real game and a fake game in an NFL season?

Please expalin to me how DW held BG back in any way shape or form.

BG was a sitting duck on the field, like he was lost when the ball was snapped.

What makes me think that AJ Feeley will be our starter? Because he is the better QB. BG clearly is a notch below JF(which doesn't say much).

Excellent point. Also, Feely has yet to prove he can even be our 2nd QB let alone get all the snaps @ #1. Thats just stupid

There is no comparison...

You might remember that Huard could not lead the offense to a single TD in the first three preseason games. Fiedler outperformed Huard in an otherwise forgettable last preseason game simply by leading the team on scoring drives. The choice was confirmed the next week when Fiedler led the offense in a blowout of the Seahawks. If Huard had simply led the team to some scores during preseason without throwing INTs, then the starting job could very well have been his...

The competition in 2004 is between a veteran Fiedler who has no trouble scoring with this offense against someone who is learning the system and is a light year behind Fiedler.

If Miami starts Feeley against the Titans without extraordinary improvement, then you can honestly say for the first time that the fix is in at QB.
