If The Dolphins Are Tanking Then Why Sign Allen?

I've been saying this all along to the posters that are down on him already. We didn't draft him to block, we drafted him to outrun the linebackers down the seam. Until we do that, he's going to continue to look pedestrian. Gase did not use him enough properly.

Problem is no ones playing you in base with him on the field.

The way they play him defensively they aren’t threatened and could absolutely care less about his blocking

He needs to be on the field more. putting him in only for obvious passing situations makes it more difficult for success. Wanna know what the Phins play is going to be? See if Gesicki is on the field.

i love the fact we know nothing about what this FO is doing; even more that Steven Ross isn’t a factor in the ‘silly season’.

it feels like... like a storm is brewing. it’s exciting.

Not sure what you're mean be Stephen Ross isn't a factor in the 'silly season."

There is a storm brewing, it's Ross taking charge.

Stephen Ross is sick of verbally getting his arse kicked by fans and the media in florida. Bitching about how bad the Dolphins are and have been.

It's over with.

He's had enough of not being involved and will be part of the new generation of the Miami Dolphins.

He will be part of this season and beyond.

Can’t say I agree. Max protect with him on the field is a disaster

And that’s where most your lb mismatches would come from

He was a rookie... he was a rookie.... he was a rookie tightend..
He is a long strider he needed those lumps..
He will be better than he looked year one like every tightend ever...
He might not ever be a TE1 but he will be better than last year.

Is 7 million two years the real contract??? If it is I'm going to have go somewhere and puke my guts out.

Grier is trying to out-do the world record stupidity of Jeff Ireland.

Players that fit your system and aren’t going to be overpriced in free agency don’t come around often. It’s very low risk, high reward. I’d rather give reasonable contracts to players like Allen than overpay Andre Branch, Robert Quinn, Bobby mccain, tj McDonald, Ryan Tannehill, etc

I don’t have anything against the players listed. Just their contracts. The dolphins have been handcuffed for years due to bad contracts. It doesn’t go away in a year, and the reality is the dolphins aren’t year away from a championship.

I can't think of another team in the league that would have been interested in Allen.

Why in the world did they throw 7 mil at a guy like this. Just wasteful.

I tellya, Grier, and his guys are confused and overwhelmed. They don't know what they're doing.

4 teams had immediate interest in Allen: Bills, Fins, Ravens and Lions

And its 2 years/7 million and the structure has yet to be released.

Fins have a clear need for a veteran TE on the roster and their OC worked with Allen last year and knows the player.

How that translates to being confused and overwhelmed . . . .who knows.

Because there has never been a team that that plans to tank. The Colts did not tank for Luck. They made some roster decisions that had a high probability of leading to a poor season, but they still tried to win every game.

Cleveland tanked the last few seasons. That’s why they’ve had cap space for five years without using it (changed last year).

You admit you don’t know reality so that’s a helpful precursor. Dude had visited 3 teams before Miami. That’s interest.
