What are Josh Rosen's positives coming into Miami? What are his negatives? Curious.

Yea it wasn’t a great situation.

Last 4 years of football . . . .dude has had 5 offensive coordiantors, two last year alone.

He is coming to a much more stable situation. The OLine isn’t completely remade yet but his blindside is more than serviceable. There is still plenty of talent at the skills.

Grier needs to find a late round / UDFA for the right side of the line and things will really be cooking.
 
He's a pure pocket passer plain and simple. His mechanics are great .He's extremely accurate on short and intermediate passes. Just don't expect a rocket arm like a Haskins. He can under throw his deep balls. If he gets a pocket he can be dangerous. He's VERY smart. I said this before he was drafted. He was arguably the most pro ready QB going into that draft. One of the best things he does is he knows how to throw his WRs open. He can fit it in a tight window. He stands strong in the pocket and doesn't panic. He keeps his eyes downfield. He's mobile enough to elude pressure in the pocket, but don't expect him to outrun anybody. Overall, If we protect him, he could shine.

I think the attitude thing is overblown. My concerns are that he needs to read defenses better, but if he's smart that could be coached. His deep balls aren't the greatest. Some times he can play hero ball too much. He's not great on the run. He had durability concerns in college.

Basically Rosen struggles when he doesn't get a pocket like other QBs. If he is forced to be on the move, he's significantly worse. If he gets time, he's dangerous.
 
Low risk, high potential.

It really didn't cost all that much. If, and I said if, he can be a top 10 QB, we basically turn this thing around in 2 years. If not, oh well. The demise, or success of the franchise doesn't hinge on the difference between a mid 2nd rd pick vs a low one.

Yikes. I kinda think to play QB in today’s NFL you have to be able to move off of your spot. Brady is an exception not the norm. What you described sounds a bit like Tannehill with a weaker arm. I hope he brings more than this.

Good post. He is coming into a solid coaching staff that will make him not break him like they did in Arizona. Well worth the risk we paid to get him.

What gives you the impression he has a weaker arm?

He also has more pocket awareness than RT ever dreamt of.

Not saying he is the answer, but I believe your comparison is unfounded.

I mean he's not a statute. I've seen him move around. He feels the pocket a lot better than Tannehill. He doesn't kill drives by holding the ball too long and take unnecessary sacks. Rosen can throw a deep ball. Just don't expect a rocket. Tannehill overthrew his WRs on the deep ball originally while Rosen's deep ball can hang some times. I was just saying that it's not his greatest strength. It's not a huge weakness either. Tannehill improved his mechanics over the years, but Rosen will be more polished as he progresses. Tannehill was pretty accurate, but he can't throw his WRs open like Rosen can. Rosen can put 400+ yards on a defense and make game changing plays while Tannehill struggled with that.

Tannehill would be better right now only because he played for 7 years, but Rosen has a higher ceiling.
