Miami Udfa Signed Thread

If Grant and Wilson are healthy come September, I would suspect Stills, Parker, Grant and Wilson are locks. The UDFA receivers will have to fight with Brice Butler, Isaiah Ford and Ricardo Louis for one or two spots. Another thing to remember is Miami would also be a prime option for any receiver released at the end of training camp by another team or other team's practice squad receivers. I figure at best one of the udfa's make the roster and the other stays on the practice squad. It could come down to who has a better camp Williams or Ford.

I agree with everything you have said and would add this.

There may be some trades made up to and during training camp. I would not be surprised to see Stills and Parker traded if the price is right.

The problem with having good players is that sometimes a team needs to leverage their NFL recognition to get other good players for weaker spots on the team. When you have decent depth, this is not a catastrophic blow.

That is where I feel we are going and only time will let us know the results. I anticipate there is still work that needs to be done on the offensive line and I suspect that is where we will see a trade if we can find a trade partner. After how our FO dealt with Arizona, this may be harder to do this year. Nobody wants to look as bad as the Cards did in that trade. If we hope to get a good player we have to be able to give up a good player.

If we were to lose one or both of those guys, the replacements are going to be from this years UDFA class that we selected. This years UDFA is apparently heavy with some pretty good receivers since not many were taken in the draft.

Watching all this unfold will be educational, to say the least.

There are still a few decent free agents out there. It will be interesting to see if Miami signs some when they don't count against compensatory picks. May 1 I've heard. Someone let me know if the date is correct.

Feeling better about the Rosen trade or still a little down about it?
Thanks for asking. Not expecting a leopard to change his spots, but I'll be quite happy if he does. I'm hoping that the absence of investing in any edge rushers or CB's means they're still considering going after a QB in 2020.

Here's the consolidated list I can find ... so far:

Ryan Anderson, OG, Wake Forest
Kyron Brown, CB, Akron
Wes Farnsworth, LS, Nevada
Terrill Hanks, OLB, New Mexico State
Montre Hartage, CB, Northwestern
Trenton Irwin, WR, Stanford
Jonathan Ledbetter, DE, 3-4DE, Georgia
Aaron Monteiro, OT, Boston College
Nik Needham, CB, UTEP
Rob Rolle, CB, Villanova
Preston Williams, WR, Colorado State
Deion Calhoun G, Mississippi (?)
Tre Watson LB, Maryland (?)

Miami Dolphins are loading up on UDFA Offensive Linemen.
...
It's nice to see the excitement but I'd temper it somewhat so as you don't have an other end of the spectrum crash. We're talking UDFAs. Nonetheless, the surplus of youth is invigorating.
That's the Patriot way - lower round picks, UDFA and another team's garbage pile.

Whoa signing a long snapper Wes Farnsworth?? Flores really does want every starter to compete for their job.

Well Denney is up there in the age stratosphere. 40 or 41 I believe. He may contemplate retirement at some point.

I'll say this about Preston Williams. We do NOT have another WR with that kind of size and skill at the position. Can he stay out of trouble and focus on football? Time will tell and I'm hoping that Flores and the rest of the staff can keep him in check but that is a rare talent. Wilson and Grant are all about speed and quickness which is good but they're both small. Stills is taller but again, more about speed with him. Parker of course is a bigger WR but has never been able to stay healthy or been consistent. Also, he doesn't seem to win those 50/50 balls up in the air.

Williams seems to have all the talent and he did have 96 catches for almost 1400 yards and 14 TD's last year. THIS guy could be the steal of 2019 IF we can keep him in line.
