'08-'09 Miami Heat

While Bulls' Rose has bloomed, Beasley must remain patient

Envious? Michael Beasley won't go there.

"I'm ain't envious toward nobody," the Heat forward says.

Cognizant? Sure, after all, it's difficult not to notice how Derrick Rose has been given the keys to the Chicago Bulls.

"I mean," Beasley adds, "I would love to be the man like that, too. I think anyone would love to be 'the man.'

Problem for Beasley is...Rose is probably the best player on that team, and he's probably the 2nd or 3rd best on the Heat...which is good or bad, depending on how you look at it.

Well assuming nothing catastrophic happens, then it looks like we're going to get a W tonight against Chi-town.

Up next: Cleveland.

Dwyane Wade falls one point short of his league-leading scoring average.

Dwyane Wade scored 28 points, Daequan Cook hit three big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Miami pulled away, and the Heat eclipsed last season's win total by beating the Chicago Bulls 90-77 on Friday.
Mario Chalmers had 16 points and six assists while Michael Beasley -- the No. 2 pick in this year's draft, after the Bulls chose Derrick Rose -- scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth for Miami (16-12), which won its fourth straight.

I think we'll split with Cleveland. A win down in Miami, and a loss up there, though it'd be great to snap their home winning streak.

I know its a little bit of an irrational reactionary response after his game today, but who's better....the 2nd or 34th pick? Chalmers has taken over the PG spot, played great pressure defense, controlled the ball without turning it over, and now is even being given opportunities to create offense in the half court set. The Heat force-fed minutes to both rookies early on, and Mario has played his way into a starting gig and Beasley has played his way out of one.

Great win tonight. Coach said it best during his post game interview. He's got 3 young studs who all should still be in college right now.

Chalmers 22 - would have been a senior
Cook 21 - would have been a junior
Beasley 19 - would have been a sophmore

The Chalmers pick was the best one of the draft for the Heat IMO. I like Beasley, but Chalmers brings alot to the table. Not to mention we've also got Shaun Livingston on the bench too, though haven't heard much from him lately.

Great win last night. I'm thinking playoffs for the Heat this year too.

Heat on a hot streak: 5-1 in past two weeks

The Heat's 17-13 record is impressive, but its 5-1 run in the last two weeks is stunning.

Since Dec. 19, the Heat has defeated Cleveland (26-5) and the Los Angeles Lakers (25-5) - two of the three best teams in the NBA - as well as New Jersey, Golden State and Chicago. The Heat's only loss was Sunday at Cleveland, where the Cavaliers are 16-0.

Dwyane Wade scores 33, but Heat falls to Magic 86-76

Make it 10 in a row. That's Orlando's regular-season win streak over Miami after Friday's 86-76 victory at Amway Arena.

Heat guard Dwyane Wade did what he could to carry his teammates. He finished with a game-high 33 points. But in the fourth quarter the load was too heavy. Wade went scoreless on 0-for-3 shooting as Orlando, led by former Heat coach Stan Van Gundy, sent a constant string of double teams his way.

"We all know what Stan is going to do," Wade said. "It's no secret that after a while he's going to send guys. They do it every time we play them. The only thing I can do is get off the ball (pass the ball) and share the ball with my teammates. We got shots. They just didn't fall."
