1:33 to go in half...Pitt stopped on 3rd down...Coach fails to stop clock. Would you?

Miamifinz is right. Pitt was near midfield and had 3 timeouts left. The weather was still a factor at that point, as it was still snowing. Odds are that Pitt pins us inside the 20 and if we don't get a first down or two, they would likely get the back in good field position with a fair amount of time on the clock. The right move was to allow the clock to run. If the Dolphins had an offense like Denver, it's a different story. But they don't. They have a suspect o-line and there is a good chance of a sack and possible turnover. Remember the end of the Buffalo game?

I see your point about the lack of trust in the offense but they did move the ball before the half ran out...just ran out of time to get close enough for FG or try a few into the end-zone.

True, but that's with the gift of hindsight. Having watched their offense all season, and considering the weather and the quality of the defense, would you bet on them being able to do that very often? I wouldn't. Plus, they held the lead at the time.

Bad weather, keep them from scoring and get the ball to begin the 3rd....I liked that decision

It looks worse then it was given we blocked the punt. Ultimately, the goal was a lead into halftime and we accomplished that.

But hindsight is 20/20, I was pissed at his poor end of half coaching, the fourth and shrt was a worse call then the lack of timeout I thought

I was hoping we didn't call the timeout. I've seen, too many times, where a team is just trying to draw a team off-sides, the defense calls a timeout and during the timeout the offense decides to go for it for real and they get it cause they had time to talk it over on the sideline.

Thanks for the insight from all sides...I guess I am somewhat of a gambler and even more so when I feel the odds are against me. The Fins are a bubble team and I would like them to play more aggressive at times but in reality it probably would not change the end result win/lose.

Up 10-7 in that weather, with the likely field position after the punt, getting the ball 1st in the second half, I have no problem with Joe wanting to get in to halftime with a 3 point lead.

It's what he did on 4th and 2 afterward that pisses me off.

I agree 100% with that decision. To kick the FG later in the game instead of going for it on 4th and 2 I thought was stupid.

It's a toss up for me. Pitt was punting from an area of the field where they could pin us within 5 yard line and I think they had a couple timeouts. They could have gotten a quick 3 and out and got ball back.

It was conservative but not necessarily a bad move in my opinion.

exactly. i thought it was the right move.
