2 First Rounders = 1 Deion Branch?

hmmm, maybe Minny needs some help...there is a sucker running things there now and you MIGHT hit the jackpot....

Hell just ask Dallas and their 3 superbowl rings...

Are you guys really that clueless? The point is the are giving him the chance to shop around and see what his value is on the open market but at the same time they are saying we want you to be here by asking for an unreal 2 round 1 picks. The Patriots didn't stop talking it was Branch's agent who cut off all talks. That was Pioli's and Belichicks way to get talks going once again.

Do you really think they would get two round 1 picks for Branch? Of course not.

"By agreeing to let receiver Deion Branch seek a trade and negotiate with other teams, the Patriots have attempted to breathe life into what had become a stagnant situation. At least now, the two sides might have something to talk about after a long impasse
From Branch’s perspective, it is an opportunity to see what 31 other teams believe he’s worth at this time. In a sense, it’s a trial run at unrestricted free agency, which his representatives have targeted as a priority by asking the Patriots to not place the franchise tag on Branch.
More than anything, this appears to be a move to put the ball in Branch’s court. Negotiations are always two-way streets, and by publicly stating they are willing to allow Branch to negotiate with other clubs and seek a trade, the Patriots are –- at the very least –- showing a commitment to reach some sort of resolution."

Now we wait to see the counter move.

I have been saying that in this thread. This thread was used as indication that the Patriots had no intention on trading him since I was tired of seeing all the "Branch to be Traded threads"

Branch isn't worth 1 1st rounder. This sounds like NE wants to keep him but they are just playing around w/ him in hopes he breaks down and signs a deal they want him to sign.

Two 1st Round picks for Branch..hummm is this a coincidence they would ask the same as a franchised player would get? I don't think so. I think this is a message to Deion not just for this season but next year when he turns FA. This is a market value lesson for Both Branch and his agent and it's going to prove to them their only market is right here in NE. A franchise WR is going to be paid roughly 6.5 Mill per season which is close to what he's already been offered and no other team is going to pay Branch that kind of money plus give up 2 1st. Deion's best option right now is to take the extension offer from the pats because even if he refuses the extension and returned to the team to play out the remainder of his contract he going to have the same thing to look forward to at the start of FA because for sure the Pats will slap the Franchise player tag on him. Along with a market value lession Deion is also getting a lesson on who really holds all the cards here and it isn't him or his useless agent. Deion should instruct his agent to sit down with the Patriots now and start negotiating a fair contract. If not the Pats could keep him hung up for quite a long time.

Branch is getting a bit of a wake up call here. He is finding out that he doesn't have near the worth that he thinks he does. He will end up signing the deal the Patriots offered and then going out to prove how wrong every one was about his abilities.

Or not. The Patriots organization botched this.. they're screwed.

The Pats flawless plan just blew up in their faces. IF he plays again for the Patriots, it will be for the 6 games required to become a Free Agent next season.
