2006 Bad year for QB's

I think your QB for the future is on SD right now, whoever they decide to get rid of will be traded to you guys in the offseason.
 
This has been known for quite a while. It'll probably get a boost from a few juniors like Omar Jacobs, Tyler, Palko, & maybe Vince Young, Sam Keller, or Marcus Vick if they step their games up. Remember that there's always some a couple QBs that step up big time to be 1st round picks, Alex Smith & Aaron Rodgers this year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one of those other juniors to go early day one or a Kellen Clemens, or a Paul Pinegar to fly up there.
 
Its way too early to tell how strong this draft is going to be at QB. Guys like Charlie Whitehurst and Reggie McNeal have enough talent to end up as first round picks. They both are coming off disapointing years, but could easily boost their stocks greatly. There are the obvious guys like Vince Young, Omar Jacobs, Chris Leak, and Marcus Vick who could improve and come out and be first round picks, but there are some other guys like Tyler Paltko, and Drew Tate who could come out of nowhere ala Alex Smith to burst onto the scene. There is the potential to be a very strong class, but also if the seniors fail to impress and the juniors don't come out it could be a weak class as well.
 
Well if Omar Jacobs has a season like last year and declares himself for the draft, I see him being a top 10 pick. If Whitehurst can rebound from last year and put together a nice season, I could see him going late 1st.
 
Vick, Leak, & Tate are going to have trouble being first rounders. All are 6' QBs. Leak is a 6' pocket QB. I don't know of any 6' pocket QBs & the only two I can think of are Michael Vick & Doug Flutie who are roll out QBs. Marcus Vick will have the least problems of the three because of his mobility similar to his brother. Drew Tate is a good college QB that has very little chance to make it in the NFL because he is extremely small in addition to his decision making.
 
the only reason why Jacobs isn't getting the praise he deservs is because of the school. Putting up 41 TD's over 4,000 passing yards and only 4 INT is all skill and he as the smarts to be an NFL QB. Don't be fooled by my name i fell off the leinart bandwagon a few months ago

6' pocket quarterbacks? How about Drew Brees? I think height is an overrated statistic in a quarterback. I see Tate possibly being a decent starter in the NFL. Nothing special, but he's just very savvy and has a presence that some guys just have. Of course, I'd rather have the guy below.
 
Your forgetting one of the most accurate of QB's, Bruce Gradkowski of Toledo. He is of the same mold of the MAC Conference QBs such as Pennington, Leftwich, and Roethlisberger. He is the next big thing out of that conference. I am going to keep a good watch on this guy this year. He is a gamer.
 
2006 is going to see the Dolphins pick up a new veteran, and the team may then draft a highly touted QB in the 1st or 2nd round in 2007 or 2008. That's the way I see it, at least.
 
If you're looking just at the seniors, Mel is probably on track. Besides Leinart, the next senior qb might be Whitehurst who doesn't look like a first round pick based on last year. If you add a few juniors, though, it could be a pretty good class with Jacobs heading up the underclass candidates.
 
Omar Jacobs and Vince Young

are superstar prospects. Mel is wrong. But, yes the OL crop could be incredible.
 
Couch is in the living room where I watch TV. Don't get your hopes up about Tim Couch coming back to save the Fins.
 
If the pick is high we must take an established QB, but i think it is a waste to take to take OL so early, and if the class will be as deep as they say it is there will be plenty of good guys left in the 2nd round.

No franchise quality LTs will fall that far. It's not like there are a million of them, and this team needs to get one of those guys who will anchor the line for upwards of a decade. If the team picks top 15, they'll get one of the last LTs. If they pick much lower than that, I worry the team will have to trade up to grab one.

I know there are a million Marino fanboys around here (and I'd love to have Dan in his prime these days myself), but a franchise LT is the most valuable commodity in football precisely because he's the guy who keeps all of your QBs from getting killed by the blind side rush.
