2012 QB Class Comparison

so in a week FACTS changed huh...interesting

Some people take longer, some get it faster. The human mind is something funny. I can tell you that in the last two weeks a lot of people jumped ship in my section which included one of the biggest Tannehill supporter I have ever met.

The facts really have only changed from 2012 when most hoped for the next coming. The facts from last year to this year not so much. It has just become much more clearer for many in the last 3 weeks.

ehhh if i change it that makes me no different than anyone else around here...i will take the lumps that come with making a bold statement like that week 5 of his rookie season...not worried about what anyone here thinks of my evaluation skills...my track records plenty good enough...although it will take a major hit on this one...is what it is

i also know that i've given people a load of grief for talking smack about this qb the last 2 years and right now it looks like they should have been given more consideration...

a) you are the one questioning the credibility of others.
b) what track record?

Bro, we have been past that point since midway through last season. I tried to tell you.

Dude, no one is going to hate you or think less of you if you just admit you totally whiffed. In fact, I think it would have the opposite effect. People might actually have more respect for you if you just made a Scoops and said "Ryan Tannehill blows beyond all belief and I have no clue how I ever got suckered into believing he had any skills at all".

And of course you will get ****ed with about it. That is going to happen anyway. You can decide how you want to take it. You can take it like a man or act like a big baby about it. I often still say "like a boss" to basically make fun of myself. Its not a big deal. I know that Im almost always right and I got carried away with that one thinking Ireland made a killer pick that would give us an incredible defense. I whiffed. But, Im comfortable in knowing I dont miss much so it dosent bother me. Im not real concerned with what others think. The good posters on this board who have been here for the last decade know I Get Real.

So perhaps you may want to throw an occasional joke aimed at yourself out there. If someone asks you what you think about a certain college or fairly new NFL QB, say "I think he's a young Tom Brady with legs". Humility dude.

when the time comes where i feel like i absolutely whiffed i will say it...til then hold your breath...

So excuses for Tannehill are not allowed on this board while they're perfectly acceptable for other QBs?
Tannehill had the worst OL with no run game in football last year, yet he still threw for 24 TDs. Let's see if Carr can do the same thing.

Carr is better than Tannehill right now as a rookie with a terrible team compared to a 3rd year quarterback. That's the comparison

His track record of spewing buzz words, cliches, and phrases that other analysts use to be pretentious and try and trick others into believing they know something.

Its well past time bro. Tannehill is hot garbage. One of the worst QBs in the league. You whiffed big.

i wasnt very impressed with carr vs the jets in the season opener...admittedly first start only but didnt see much

Tannehill had the worst OL with no run game in football last year, yet he still threw for 24 TDs. Let's see if Carr can do the same thing.

Still this nonsense?

1. 24 TDs is not a big number.

2. We have the best running game in the league this season. How is Tannehill doing? Huge difference? I think not.

3. The OL was not as bad as you would like to believe it was last season. 58 sacks was largely due to the fact that Tannehill blows and is a huge sack taker. He loves getting sacked.

Back in 2012 I didnt like Tannehill as a first round prospect, but for the sake of full disclosure, I did like Brandon Weeden.
I wasn't a huge fan of Cousins, but I did like Foles and Wilson a good deal, I felt that if Wilson was 6'3 he would have been an unquestioned top 5-10 pick. The point is, I thought Tannehill was at best a 2nd round pick because even though he was a great physical talent, he was extremely raw, he was really sub par in big spots in his big games, and he struggled against top competition. (Oklahoma St, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma)
Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but I remember a good deal of people saying we needed to take Tannehill simply because he was the best available QB when we picked at 8, and we needed to invest highly in a QB. I remember responding that we shouldn't take a QB in the first round just for the sake of doing it, especially when there's a player like Keuchly on the board, and we can find an equal QB prospect (Wilson, Foles) later on.
I tried to deal with my bias against Tannehill, and I tried to be patient with him, but I've seen enough, and its sad to think how much better we'd be with Kehchly and Wilson or Foles.... Not to mention Drew Brees and Brandon Marshall and Anquan Boldin and the myriad of other great players that we blew the chance and getting and/or keeping. ****.

i heard that about mark sanchez and geno smith also...but yeah i do...to an extent

The jet's weren't nearly as bad as the Raiders. They are AWFUL. I'd definitely take Carr over Geno right now. But I understand the opposing view to that statement.

I was a big supporter of Kuechly at #8 and Wilson/Cousins/Foles at #54

Loved Kuechly ever since he took over for Herzlich at BC...I liked Herzlich a lot. I think the cancer really hurt his career...

I was a little too hard on Sherman in that thread (though I still think he is not a good offensive coordinator) but I did have this little nugget:

To take the passer rating (PR) discussion a little further there is only one guy that has multiple seasons with a PR of 100+ that doesn't have a SB: Philip Rivers, with 4 seasons of them. Think about that, EVERYBODY (and there are quite a few of them) that has two seasons or more with a PR of 100+ has won the SB except only ONE guy.

Another guy is on pace for a second season with a PR of 100+ and his name is Russell Wilson (maybe a good SB wager based on these findings?), Wilson is already the second youngest to do it for a single season behind only RGIII and would be the youngest in the multiple 100+ seasons club by far. Anybody doubting this kid is a star in the making better wake up and smell the coffee.

If you want more of an underdog SB prediction for this season go with Rivers and the Chargers. That team is killing it and Rivers play has taken a step up even more than his already great self.

Where does Tannehill rank in yards per completion? How many games has he put the team on his shoulders and led them to a win? Is he an unquestioned leader of this team? These "stats" can shed more light on just how disappointing this former first round pick has been for a franchise that has desperately needed a QB for a long time.

I was a big supporter of Kuechly at #8 and Wilson/Cousins/Foles at #54

This was precisely my draft plan. I liked Foles, I saw a lot of him at AZ and anyone who watched saw he was going to be solid. Add Kuechly in the mix and that draft would have save Ireland his job.
