2013 draft, Irelands biggest failure?

You can't judge a draft based on immediate impact even though everybody wants to. To me Irelands biggest failure was not any draft it was simply starting the season with John Martin at LT especially considering he's paying the guy who replaced Martin what he wouldn't pony up in the offseason. We don't know anything but it sounds like Martin had some well known issue early on in the offseason so counting on him, who you already knew wasn't a good player, to play the most important position on your oline with a developing QB on a pass first team was irresponsible and Ireland should be canned for it. Forget the drafts, this was his biggest mistake.

He should have at least brought in competition earlier. Garner IMO is a better gaurd than tackle. Having just Clabo and Martin was a mistake. When we didn't hit on a tackle early in draft, Another should have been brought in for competition.

Your worse than my mrs for not hearing what I saying lol

I never said I disliked or did not want Jordan. I think he will be excellent, but, we did not have enough talent it depth in other position to afford ourselves to trade up for a luxury pick

The #1 way to beat Brady, and every other QB in the league is by Rushing Four. A strong pass rush is an absolute must. The previous year, even with you so called depth at the DE, one of a glaring issues was pass rush, as with the previous year we got most of our sacks from one guy and mainly blitzes. So after ADDRESSING MAINLY THE OFFENSE IN THE OFF-SEASON, by signing, HARTLINE, WALLACE, GIBSON, and KELLER to a COMBINE SALARY OF OVER 100 MILLION, the next logical think to do was ADDRESS OUR PASS RUSH, with the BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE DRAFT..

YET THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE DRAFT ONLY GETS 15 SNAPS A GAME!!!

While guys like Richardson, Star, Alonzo are having REAL impacts for their team...the real next logical step would be to PROTECT THE FREAKING QB SINCE THE WAY YOU BEAT A GOOD QB IS RUSHING 4....as you said.

Your signature is factually wrong. At the 10 game point last year our record was 4-6, so that would mean we are actually one game better this year. And I guess they way Dion has played after missing the entire off-season isn't good enough for you. And I also bet you were probably one of the only one's on this site not giddy about how he fleeced the Raiders to move up to #3 in get THE HIGHEST RATED DEFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE DRAFT.

Ireland's Last 4 First Round Picks

Jordan ( Leads all rookies In Pressures.) Imagine, what this kid is going to do in the next 10 remaining games)
Tannehill (If you don't understand how good this kid is going to be..Nevermind)
Pouncey (Should have made the Pro-Bowl, if it wasn't such a popularity contest)
Odrick (Geez, Imagine in his 4th year he is having a Pro-Bowl Type Season)

I remember a time, when we just wish we could at least hit on just the 1st Rounders..

And that 2011 draft is starting to come around, I wonder if you even know how many teams from the last 4 years worth of drafts have 4 Players, contributing as much as Pouncey, Thomas, Clay and Wilson..

Am I having deja vu, but haven't we seen this exact same OP before? That Larry Warford crap signals it.

Not to defend Ireland in any way, but this is all premature. The new kids may not all work out, but we don't know yet one way or another.

Jordan is flashing left and right. Good shot at being a playmaker. Coaches should use him more effectively.

It's early to write off Jamar Taylor and Will Davis. Personally, I would get them some snaps so they put plays on tape to get their feet wet, develop their experience, and give them offseason studying.

Dion Sims should be a decent role player. His blocking has been lacking but he can turn it around. Don Jones can be a decent special teamer. He's put together pretty well.

Dallas Thomas: not looking good to be fair, but Sam Brenner may be a keeper (backup at a minimum). Thomas obviously looks overmatched but he is redshirting so we will know more next season. Gillislee is just a guy, so not holding out much hope there. You'd like to see another gear, power, or some electricity out of Gilleslee, but it does not appear to be there.

That is the basic premise of everyone here who don't view things through the 'fireland' prism.

I love Jordan, but IMO he is a luxury pick. We had Wake, Vernon & Shelby going into draft. At that point we had an O'line of Martin, Incognito, Pouncey, Jerry, Garner, no real back up and 3 of them FA next year.

Granted this would have upset the masses due to previous O'line picks, but so did the Lions selecting Calvin Johnson after all the other misses at WR. In the end if we had selected Warford and Watson and won more games, I think fans would be far happier with Jeff Ireland

Personally I think this is Ireland's most promising draft, because you can see a clear shift in philosophy from him. This is the direction the league is going, you need elite pass rushers. Wake was the only guy who played like a starter out of those 3 leading up to the season and I'd rather 2 elite guys on the edge. Plus Jordan offers more versatility. I'm in the minority here that I think having Ireland around for another year would be better than worse, think he's gone from a bad GM to a GM who can continue to fill this team with talent.

Dude.. We're 10 games into the 2013 season.......

Microwave world, I tell ya.

People just don't understand how much of a crapshoot the draft is. They think every team starts 13 rookies and still wins every year. If you're really lucky you get 1 or 2 that contribute right away.

Wow, the excuses forIreland just never end on this site. If he draft a guy that becomes a starter Ireland is a genius even when we know that player is only starting cause we have nobody else. If the player sucks it's Irelands fault. We don't need to go far tho. Our weakest link is the oline and everyone of those guys were brought here by Ireland AFTER Parcells was gone. He had 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and came away with a part time/situational players who was hurt(still is)2 DB's that were also hurt in college(and still caN'T get on the field and a guard who can't play for crap. Now lets blame that on Parcells too.

Ozzy rules!!

parcells left after the 2010 season (march of 2011 if i recall correctly).

richie incognito was signed by parcells on march 17, 2010.

nate garner (now starting) was drafted by the jets in 2008, cut, and signed by parcells in 2008.

john jerry was drafted by parcells in the 2010 draft.

pouncey was an ireland pick (future all pro center, although having an off year).

jonathan martin was an ireland pick (whiny crybaby bastard, probably done in football forever).

clabo was signed by ireland as a free agent.

sorry to give you the facts on your erroneous statement.

Jordan looks like a monster and could be not only a dominate pass rusher but a solution to our right end covering problem that we've had for years. As for Will Davis and jamar Taylor, cornerback might be the hardest position to adjust to for a rookie in such a pass happy league. Way too early to tell
