Two guys I'd like are Ken Whisenhunt, Lovie Smith and Rob Ryan. I always liked Magini and Herm Edwards hahah.

I know everyone will think I'm nuts, but I would take Marty in a heartbeat right now. He still wants to coach, by the way.

I agree. He has improved every team he has ever been to, his teams are smart and tough. And he has a chip on his shoulder about what happened in SD (and rightly so). Right now, he would re-establish credibility and respect which frankly should be the order of the day. He would get far more out of this roster than the current group.

Otherwise, I would go for Ken Wisenhunt. He is the only coach who has ever had much success in Arizona and is a straight, credible smart guy who has some experience but is still young enough to be a longer term solution.

Jay Gruden: http://www.bengals.com/media-lounge...ferently/4b0e6967-1433-4d03-be9a-7a433ae8ecf5 Confident, yet low key. Seems to know his stuff. His approach looks like it may translate to HC.

Don't let Jay fool you. He's not quite as over the top as his brother, but the guy is a force of personality. At one point when he was head coach in the arena league, he came out of retirement and took over as the team's QB. And played pretty well.

He won 6 Arena League championships. Four as a player and two as a head coach. IMO, he is the coordinator to keep an eye on if we're going that route.

Whoa I forgot about Marty. I agree he should be given a shot. If only some of us are GM we would know what to do and who to hire.

I don't care what the scheme is. Pick the scheme to match the players, instead of the other way around. And Mangina sucks.
And the 3-4 scheme is THE BEST scheme for this team. The numbers don't lie. When they ran a 3-4 they were in the top 12 every year. Look at this 4-3 Defense now.

Marty Schottenheimer
Not a bad choice. His age is a problem though.

Isn't Schottenheimer like 90 years old now? For crying out loud, enough of the retreads already. Schottenheimer's ship sailed a long time ago. We need some younger and energetic coaches who players want to bust their tail for.

He is 70 years old

In two years I've seen three of the absolute worst Dolphins performances I can remember: Tennessee, Buffalo, and now Tampa.

That's enough.

As much as I still like Philbin, I have to agree.

He is the antithesis of the famous Bum Phillips quote about Shula. The man sometimes seems to find a way to lose even when it seems impossible to do so. Shula NEVER had a team unprepared to play when the opposition was so poor as the 3 games referenced here.

He is beginning to remind me of Ron Zook and Will Muschamp of my Gators.

For future reference... I have a feeling we have not heard Tony Dungy's name from Ross by accident.

Sorry Hayden. Joe Philbin is not going anywhere. And if Ireland does go, the new hire is going to have to agree to Philbin as head coach for at least 2 more years. Book it. Hell, I wouldn't mind one bit if Ross gave him the GM duties as well.

Honestly I think Marty-ball would be an excellent idea. I know he was 5-12 in the playoffs but his average margin loss in the playoffs was 3 points. That means his teams were always in the games.

Marty was in San Diego and built a bad Charger team into one of the deepest and talented teams in the league. They have tapered off just recently which proves how well he did building that team. He was unjustly fired from that team after a 14-2 season. At that time I was stationed in Diego and that team was very good. Their problem was once they started their season so strong the fans thought they were Super Bowl bound, but you got to learn how to win in the playoffs first, not just the regular season. Just ask Matty Ice. There was undue pressure and they lost to Tom Brady cuz they intercepted him at end of game and instead of taking a knee the safety tried to make a play and fumbled giving the ball back to the patriots with seconds to spare. Chargers lose, Marty gets axed.

Marty wants back in the league, is a very classy guy who would bring back "respectability" back to south Florida's Dolphins. The NFL would take notice of that hire. He has experience that no coordinator has had and the lesson of time to learn from his mistakes. He has led several teams and ALL of them were perrenial playoff teams even after he left. He may not be here for a long haul due to his age so a few years with him could set us up from this horrific age of Dolphins football.

I'm tired of trying coordinators who haven't been in the big mans seat with the pressure on. I feel we have got to have an established coach who had won in this league already. Marty makes sense because we have the personnel for a 3-4 defense already. We have talent on offense and have big lineman. He would use the run and use the pass.

I know he had Brees and he was a decent QB for him, but that team needed to be kept together and grow and it didn't happen. If it would've they may have won a Super Bowl with that talent filled squad they had.

Just remember Marty had his teams always in the games to the end, at that point he really did his job as a coach it's up to players and playmakers to change or write the history. Unfortunately he had guys who fumbled away opportunities to become legendary and Marty gets the blame. Also, think about all the Dolphin playoff games the last 15-2o years and how many of those were we really in it at the end? Not very many both Ravens losses, the Raiders loss and even Bledsoe's Patriots beat us more than the final score ever indicated. It's been a bad stretch for all of us fin fans.

Shula was tossed out of Miami like yesterday's news for the former Super Bowl winning and tha U's national champion Jimmy Johnson. Shula was an amazing coach (albeit a horrific GM) who deserved fanfare and respect, at the end he didn't get it and many believe, including myself that we have been cursed ever since the way we exiled our legendary and classy great coach Shula! I think bringing in a coach like Schottenheimer would appease the football gods and reverse the doom we have suffered for far too long, lets bring back the good times!

At this point, I would be happy with Schottenheimer, even with the Gruden brothers. Someone mentioned David Shaw from Stanford a while ago. I would be happy with him as well. However, I would be THRILLED if Tony Dungy became our next coach but I read a quote from him saying something like "I'm looking forward to working with Joe Philbin at the end of the season". It think it was in an PFT article. So I don't get my hopes up for Tony Dungy.

Would Jon Gruden still be able to be the star of Corona commercials where he now calls his best audibles (wings vs pizza) and teaches the waiters how to "serpentine"?
And some thought that his acting peaked when he did the Hooters commercials or played Chucky in an earlier role.

How about Tony Dungy in the building on a day to day basis as team president and David Shaw as head coach.

Look at Shaw's resume. Son of a coach. Bright guy who went to Stanford and played there. Has coached diverse positions with success. Has coordinated with success. His record as head man is great. Previous experience in the NFL.
