2014 Complete Miami Draft

Well we know off the bat that the second round pick will be a bust. Might as well trade it as soon as possible.

Lets say for example, a quarterback is available in the third round. Lets say any round and Connor Shaw is available? Would we pull the trigger on a guy like this?
Should we consider drafting a QB at all?

I think we should. Give Tannehill a push and who knows what might happen with the pick?

I would have never asked this question had we won at least one of our last two games. But I think we should grab a guy like Shaw. If anything, it would make camp and the pre-season quite interesting.

BTW......Connor Shaw is a beast and a QB all packed into one player.

I'd take any of the 4 SEC QB's (Shaw, Mettenberger, Murray, or McCarron) in the 3rd or 4th. Murray IMO is the best of that lot w/ Shaw not far behind.

I'm not sure if I ever understood they hype that surrounds Mettenberger. IMO, he hasn't done enough to warrant a 3rd round selection. Or even 4th

Why do people all of a sudden think that Lewan is going to drop past top ten?

Every mock I've seen has him somewhere in the 15-22 range. I have yet to see a recent mock (within the last 2 months or so) that has him going top 10.

Yep, the only mocks I saw with Lewan top 10 was very early. I think he's collectively considered a mid first to mid 2nd rd pick.

From what i have read , and what we all know , is that Philbin dosent like to start rookies , it happen this past year Tannehill wouldnt have been thrown into the starting role if david garrard hadnt gotten hurt , IM not sure yet how much power Philbin will have in draft /FA . but he is suspose to have alot more of the play calling , and it really is who Ross gives that to on who we will draft , if Philbin is in charge i see him going out in FA and finding players to start on the OL , if that is so then im not sure who we will be looking at in the draft , if we get most of our starting OL in FA , we may be looking at other poss to fill in the draft , i know our biggest need is OL , RB LB , but its going to be intersting who and which way we go as far as FA , and the draft .

You guys must have a lot of time on your hands to know college football players as well as you do.

Even tho like looking at mock drafts i's way too early to tell what we'll do. A lot depends on free agency of course. Who we lose and whowe get.I see us trying to get 2 o-linemen in free agency so no way we'd draft 4. If we get a veteran RB then we might not draft one. I still believe wih better blocking Miller can be much better but we still need a big back. We also still need a real TE that can block plus go down the seam. Clay is more of a HB.

Ozzy rules!!

HMMMM!!!! That's why we hang out in FOOTBALL forums.

No it won't. ireland will not be making it.

I can handle the idea of OL in the 1st round ONLY IF Tre Mason is no longer available.

I hope there isn't a huge run on OT's like they are projecting..... Would love to get Lewan, Ogbuehi, Kouandjio or Robinson, but it's a long shot for either one to be there @19.

I only want sure fire hit offensive lineman. Don't draft them just to draft them and think you are being smart about it. We have to many needs, Evans or Benjaman at WR or Mason at RB would have far more impact than a "average" lineman. I say this because we have been wasting picks on lineman for years and it has gotten us nowhere.

I'd like to see a skill player in there regardless of whether they are RB, WR, TE. We need some more speed / play making ability on offense IMO.

This draft would help solve the offensive line issues for sure. I still think Miami should get a playmaker in the 1st and then move forward to fix the offensive line. I think the team's wide receivers are good, but if a player like Benjamin, Evans, Ebron or Mosely on defense is there at 19 I hate to see the team pass. The Dolphins should get at least one "good" starter for the offensive line in free agency which would open things up in the the first round.
