It appears Mike Shanahan has reentered the picture for #49ers, as they wait to figure out the Coughlin situation. They reached out to him.

It's not a done deal yet, but a source says the Giants and Ben McAdoo are closing in on a deal to make him the next head coach.

Giants' decision to tab McAdoo as head coach will certainly make Eli Manning happy, and leaves option to keep some staff in place.

It was always going to be Mcadoo, the Giants just didn't want it to look like they forced Coughlin to hire him as there OC, and than fired Coughlin later and replaced him with the guy they forced him to hire.

But this was always the plan.

Who was the last coach with a mustache to have any success? McAdoo's looks especially stupid, like he lost a bet or something.

Wonder if there will be as many people not happy with this hire for Giants than people have been about Gase since he has only been an OC for 2 years as well & learned behind Philbin. I like the Gase hire & reading all of the praise he is getting only encourages me more.

The Giants should have just "parted ways" with Coughlin two years ago. Now they are stuck in the precarious position of whether to force Manning to have to learn another new offense or not.

Think they are more trapped by Jerry Reese's continued presence. Mimicking the mistakes of the Dolphins is something an organization like the Giants should be above.
