Let's have Gase get the job first and then we can start filling in the staff.

I, for one, would be surprised if Campbell came back. However, we shall see.

Maybe Campbell gets a promotion to coaching O-line or something.

Thats clearly the case, he wants to stay and Ross is showing thanks to him for taking the Interim HC job, by keeping him as an assistant coach.

Gase benefits greatly, because now the former HC who knows the team pretty well, can immediately meet with Gase snd give him a complete breakdown of the team, what went wrong, what went right, etc etc.

Great situation for Gase, and the players get to see someone they like and trust remain on the roster.
 
Folks, can we stop the Mike Shanahan talk? He was never getting the job. He is never getting a job again in the NFL.

Great coach in his time.

However, he was never a factor in Miami.

It's also a totally ridiculous comparison. Shula was a 3x NFL coach of the year before coming to Miami, but because Gase has a similar Meyers Briggs test he's the next Shula. Ross is infuriating.

ETA: Gase also didn't play football past high school. Anyone know if Don Shula did?

Gase is a guy who fits the archetype of what a young Don Shula would be. That doesn't mean he is a young Don Shula, but Ross is willing to take a risk and find out if he is.

no but I totally get what he is saying and have had the same thought

there is a lot of upside here and he could be a true long term option if it clicks
 
Defensive ends usually take 2 or 3 years to really develop. Corners usually take a year or two to get going and i imagine free safeties do as well. Offensive lineman can usually be plugged in and do moderately well, but building chemistry with the rest of the unit can be tricky. Linebackers as well.

Even if we hit on all of those this offseason(and we won't), we'd still be at least 2 years from being a Superbowl contender. We can "wait" on Gase.

Which is not to say i agree with this current "thing" that head coaches need years upon years to develop.
