2016 Coaching Data Base

no but I totally get what he is saying and have had the same thought

there is a lot of upside here and he could be a true long term option if it clicks

Please explain, I don't get it at all.

Don Shula was a 3x NFL coach of the year and had an outstanding NFL playing career before coming to Miami. Adam Gase has been an OC on some OK offenses, and hasn't played football since high school.

That is what is attractive to me is the upside Gase has. He can grow and evolve as a coach.

I want to see his staff, but I have no issue with this hire even though he was not on my list based on my criteria.

Excited to see what happens Saturday.

yes but when he was hired he was not a x3 winning coach who had coached for a lifetime.

Nobody is saying Gase is a hall of famer. The point is he is a respected coach with upside who could lay a foundation that could impact the Dolphins for many years to come.

There is a chance here of a lot of upside, closer to a Shula than a Cam Cameron. It could also end up being a ****show, it is just nice to have a chance of greatness for once, I reckon Gase will either be great or out of here real fast lol

Saying you want a coach in that mold is not the same as saying he is the next Shula. Dont take it literally

Yes he was

Yep, archetype may be similar, but the resumes aren't comparable.

certainly not. All I suggested was this could potentially be a long term hire that if works could shape the Dolphins for years

Or it could be a complete ****show. But it feels different than hiring a 50 year old Philbin

Gase will be successful I feel. He is a very smart guy. Has had to make decisions on game day. He has adjusted how he coaches to adapt to players.

All good signs.

Now, it is about locking him up and finding a staff.

Gase seems very intelligent to me. He seems like he knows his ****. I don't see how he's similar to Philbin at all. AT ALL!

#Patriots assistants get 1 day to interview for jobs during the playoffs. It's today. Expect DC Matt Patricia to talk to #Browns & #Dolphins

Patricia's interview was already scheduled and hasn't been cancelled yet. You guys need to slow down because Gase is not a done deal. Yet.

This is the way to do business. Sounds like Gase is lined up and will get an offer. However, if something falls through or Gase is not ready to come to Miami, the team is ready to move on to interview other candidates or come back to other coaches they have interviewed.

Credit where due: As I mentioned in the story, @russsalzberg reported last night the Eagles asked NYG for permission to talk to Coughlin.

If the Eagles are pivoting that is a good sign for Gase to land in Miami.

Eagles requesting permission from Giants to interview Tom Coughlin, per sources. Interview likely to occur Monday, before owners meeting.

Eagles done with the Gase chase?

He'll definitely get an offer but the obvious unknown is whether or not he accepts. That said, reports were out that he talked to Tannehill and Suh and if that is accurate, barring an unforseen setback its most likely he agrees.

But until the i's are dotted and t's are crossed I'm not counting it as done.

With no second interview lined up I'd say yes, for now.

IF Gase spurns the Fins, he will start getting a rep.
