2016 Coaching Data Base

So you'd prefer to hire someone who would do just poorly enough that no one wants him as a head coach?

**** that. Give me the defensive coordinator who's so good owners are offering their daughters to him as sex slaves if he'll come and coach their team. That's the guy I want.

I didn't say that at all. Don't put words in mouth.

I'd rather go after someone who is untapped, and has more up and coming appeal, someone who is less on the head coach radar.

If Austin does well he's gone, and your right back to square 1, we have a very young defense, young defenses benefit most from continuity.

Is it reasonable to expect you would get as good of results from the "untapped" guy as you would from Austin? Let's assume the answer is "no" (because that's the only reasonable answer). And that brings us back to my earlier comment. There's a reason Austin is being looked at as a head coaching candidate. To turn around and consider that a negative is silly. Give me one goddamn year of top quality defensive coordinating. Don't get too cute by half.

I dunno, I'm also not looking for short term. I thinking long term, and long term we need continuity IMO.

Maybe if you bring in a guy who can pick up where Austin will eventually leave off, than it could work.

Whatever the team needs to do to bring in some consistency I'm all for. Young teams won't develop without it.

Your team also won't develop if you don't hire the best guy for the job because your gaze is a year or two into the future rather than on the list of guys who are currently available. Hire the best guy. If he does such a good job other people want to hire him, you got lucky. Celebrate.

That's a good point.

Mike Silver is taking hostages if Hue does not get the job

What happened to Kelly?

Maybe they can bring back Tomsula, apparently he is the only one interested.

Here comes the "we conducted an extensive search comment" after a hire..

In a move that is definitely not #asexpected, the 49ers get permission to interview Tom Coughlin http://wp.me/p14QSB-9XGh

Recap: #Browns & #Niners interested in Hue. #Giants want to talk to him. Niners want to talk to Coughlin. Eagles have him tonight. #drama

I really thought Mcadoo had the giants job locked from the time they forced Coughlin to hire him as there OC.

Looks like they are really thinking of a complete coaching staff make over. Doesn't really make sense IMO.

Hue Jackson does plan to interview with the #Giants, I'm told. Working on finalizing a time, given the NFL meetings in Houston.

For all the talk on here about Tannenbaum hiring a "yes man", the way the Eagles are handling their search is pretty damn transparent: don't hire someone who will challenge Howie Roseman again. Im sure their interview with Jackson will be extensive but they are locked in on Doug Pederson.

While Chip Kelly is the current whipping boy, people tend to forget Roseman started the power struggle by randomly **** canning Tom Gamble out of spite. For that fact alone i kind of hope the Chiefs make the Superbowl so the Eagles will be kept twiddling their thumbs for a couple more weeks.

I forgot about that. The NFL is having their owners meeting this week. This might be another reason they wanted to get their new head coach signed so quickly.
