Key point made here. “Especially late when defenses are worn” - this is spot on and why the OT rules should allow both teams to possess the ball 1x. In a game like this, no one is making a defensive stop at the end. So make it come down to a 2 pt try if you have to.
But exactly how many games are like this? Why cater to teams that stink on defense for 48 minutes?

A game coming down to just seeing which team can stop a 2 point try isn’t really seeing which team is better,

That final :13 seconds should haunt McD Frazier and the defense.

1. Squib kick it (2-4 seconds run off clock)
2 hold and tackle every WR every play. 5 yards given up clock runs on the play.
The second one — hold and give up the 5 yards — is one that I don’t understand why teams don’t do more. Could have done that twice and given up ten yards and forced kc to have to go 65 yards on one play with no time left

Alright going to bed. Expected some better zingers from you all. Did see some good ones though so well done.

Will likely be around rest of playoffs. And to give off-season opinions. Tomorrow onto UFA Prep and Draft stuff (who am I kidding. Will need a couple days then will get to my offseason and draft prep.).
Hey, if you were expecting to see something offensive you should have waited until the bills defense was on the field.

Exactly. I just posted the same thing in the Bills subreddit. I can't believe the coaches didn't think of that. Tackle the receivers at the snap and Mahomes is briefly stunned. He wastes 2-3 seconds minimum. At worst you end up defending a Hail Mary situation from 60+ yards.

Maybe the tackle receivers aspect is more evident to me because I watched Tim Foley and Curtis Johnson essentially do the same thing in the early '70s...chopping receivers legs at the snap before the league outlawed it.

The squib kick is risky because it can hit somebody and go nowhere. Better strategy would be try to drop it near the 10. Anything to give Mahomes one less play. The kick returners probably had been given instructions to give up quickly anyway.

One of the worst losses in NFL history given win probability in the final seconds.

But when the league moved touchbacks from the 20 to the 25 I knew darn well it meant fewer seconds were required in this scenario. Thank goodness that rule wasn't in place for the 2007 season Super Bowl. Makes me shudder. Brady had a heck of a lot more than 13 seconds.

Yes they traded up to Bills spot. Bills went into 20s and selected Tre White. McDs first year. And before Beane was hired so he didn’t trust Whaleys evaluations.
Hey I just wanted to say, I feel for you man. I know I'm not supposed to since my team is the rival. But damn, miami has stunk for a long time. But I remember the heartbreaking losses from miami in those few seasons miami were in the playoffs and marino playing. A lot of my friends are bills fans so I know they are gutted. Like I said, I do have empathy for a game you thought was won. I remember the announces saying it;s over but chiefs with two timeouts and how fast the players are and mahomes. Not to mention pass interference calls that can give big gains. I couldn;t feel the game was over until clock was 0

Only 1 of these guys has won an AFC championship game. Let us hold off on crowning them.
So we have to actually wait for them to win something meaningful before we can foresee their greatness!? Aweee how boOooring!

I feel ya though, fair enough...Let's not jump ahead with these timelines. heh we'll just have to ignore the intuitive feels for now & we'll see in a few years how this all manifests.

I wonder where Miami will be then.... Hmm... Oops ohhh yess no forecasting... I need to remember to Be Here Now, this present moment. 😌🙏

Daboll was terrible. The Chiefs secondary was there to be picked apart, and for some reason Daboll kept calling running plays. The Bills could have scored 50+ easily.
Well the lack of running game earlier in the season is a lot to do with bills losses also making then one dimensioal. So him running was important and them balanced made them better. But there was more running than thought there would be

This came down to the bills choosing to kickoff deep rather than squib it or kick short and gave them the extra seconds to have the opportunity to make the tying kick. Coaching loss.
I've seen squib kicks where ball recovers at like 35 or close to 40 yard line tho. Or with so many fast chiefs st players they were probably scared of possiblity they take it to the house or get a big gain. Even if with less time, but ball gets to bout 40 yard line. It leaves decent time for chiefs to get in fg range with 2 timeouts
