2025 Draft Order Tracker

I'll post it again for you.

Terron Armstead if he was traded before the deadline this year:
2024 Dead Cap: $7,818,750
2025 Dead Cap: $18,553,500
2024 Savings: $2,737,352

Post June Cut for 2025:
2025 Dead Cap: $7,818,750
2026 Dead Cap: $10,734,750
2025 Savings: $14,300,000
Yea, but I don't think the cap matters at this point, not to me anyway. IMO, the cap will prevent us from being a competitor next year regardless.

Trading Armstead would have got us more draft capitol and without him, our offense would weaken to the point, we'd probabaly only win 2 more games instead of 4 or 5. Thus making our draft picks all more valuable.

Just because the cap doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it doesn't matter to the team.

What kind of draft capitol do you honestly think an oft injured aging LT who has talked about retirement going to get you? Does that eclipse 19mm in cap space for next year?

No, and I totally understand your point but we might be drafting #1 instead of #10, is all I'm getting at.

My goodness. I guess “God Bless everyone on FinHeaven” was short-lived, huh?
Dude, your following me around like a gnat. What do you expect, if I was trolling every comment you made, I'm sure you'd get sick of it too.

But either way we are on the hook for the exact same amount of money, so it doesn't really matter when we take the cap hits. There is no actual true savings regardless.

However, a 4th or 5th round draft pick would've still be a useful tool.

The only real negative is that you're admitting your season is over, which is something everyone can and should accept by now, except for Grier.

I find it extremely unlikely anyone would give up a 4th or 5th for Armstead at the end of his career for one. Secondly, I find it much more beneficial to utilize him while we are paying him anyways for the rest of this year and slide him into a post-june cut to to offset the savings through 25-26 and realize the cap savings for next year.

I do realize some people could give a f*ck less about the cap since they want to blow up the team, but we do need to sign contracts to start filling in slots for the next couple years and we need money to do that. There are a lot of contracts that need to be hashed out still as we cannot draft and UDFA our entire team next year. Taking on unecessary dead cap for what I would see as a 6th or maybe a 26 5th is not advantageous IMO, like at all.

If we had a GM that wasn't on the hot seat, we would have sold Armstead and a few others at the deadline, making our future the main priority.

We have the easiest path to the #1 pick out of any team (as you have eloquently spelled out), but we're relatively healthy and this roster is good enough to win 4 to 5 more games vs this easy schedule.

And this is why we've been a .500ish team for 20 years. We're always putting the cart before the horse and then subsiquently; waiting too long to admit mkstakes and move on.

And the wheel keeps going, round and round and round.

The phrase "Same Ol Dolphins" is making a massive comeback.

Ya I hear ya, i don't actually think we're going to get the No.1 pick as honestly we are capable beating 24/25 teams in the league and we aren't THAT bad.

Still, I have nothing else to hope for on my wish list so my love of math and the draft has me planning our route to the No.1 pick.

But ya, coming off a week in which our QB was nearly flawless against one of the best teams in the league, its hard to imagine us landing a top 5 pick.

I hear ya but teams "going for it" tend to over pay. Additionally, we aren't exactly paying him this year, he's making league minimum in terms of salary so he would've been that much more attractive in a trade. In most cases a really good team is more concerned with the additional salary they are acquiring than the mid to late round pick they're giving up.

It would also benefit the team long term to get Patrick Paul in there for the second half of the season.

We're going to have 7-8 rookies make the roster next year as it stands now, so we are already slated to add a lot of base contracts.

If the Dolphins win tonight, they’ll remain in the 6th draft spot.

If the Dolphins lose they’ll fall down (up?) to the 3rd overall selection, behind the Jags and Giants, who would then have one more loss than us.

Giants are off next week and the Jags head to Detroit.

Saints play the Browns and Colts play the Jets next week.

Dolphins play the Raiders, so we’ll very likely win that game and drop next week.

Thats amazing even if we win we will be as high as the 6th spot in the draft.

I am hoping we win so we can make at least make the rest of the season interesting. We would only be 1 game behind the Broncos in the loss column for the number 7 seed with 2 very winnable home games upcoming.

I am not that concerned about our draft position especially this early when there are so many games remaining in the season. Also with Grier making the selections, what does our draft position matter anyway. He will find a way to screw it up.

Ya of course I’m still rooting for Tua and the guys to play their best but the reality of the situation is what it is.

If we lose 37-34, that’s probably the best case scenario.
