2nd Look: Fins vs Chargers

To be fair, QBR is a joke either way. The regular version is heavily weighted towards completion %. And ESPN's version is basically QBR + rushing.

ESPN's QBR is a joke. I've gone into this before, but they have never revealed their full methodology and they fully admit that there are subjective interpretations factored in to the rating.

They absolutely use it to hype up Monday Night Football matchups and otherwise try to draw ratings for their shows.

The one real positive note from this game was the start of both halves by our offense.

11 plays 76 yards and a FG to start the game and then 5 plays 80 yards to start the 3rd period.

The offense came out ready to go and avoided the dreaded 3 and outs that have plagued us all season.

We weren't flat for a change.

On Jordan I think the best use for him this year is to cover TEs, with his size and change of direction speed it is a role he would excel at. On Tannehill I think the biggest change that would improve his QB rating (if that matters) but more importantly to improve our chances of winning is his deep ball accuracy, would increase his TD% and yards hugely. All in all pretty happy with Tannehill's progress this year, I'm not a huge fan of the really short completions he does, like 2-4 yards or less, I would prefer we are a bit more aggressive, but maybe it's the playcalling or WCO, don't know.
Love the way all three of our TEs are in the game from time to time, good experience for all of them and probably makes gameplanning against them harder.

After the hell the last 2 weeks has been feels nice to get a win doesn't it? Let's dive in.

Let's start with the QB Ryan Tannehill. The big debate is whether or not he's gotten better or if he's a bust. While he may not be on the level we want him to be, he's far from a bust or a weakness. Tanny had 2 bad throws; the missed deep ball to Mike Wallace, and his interception. The INT after seeing the replay, Tanny was fooled as Johnny Patrick pealed off his man and took underneath zone. Good scheme as much as a bad throw. Tanny's decision to run out of bounds late was a dumb one as well and thankfully it didn't hurt us in the end.

The one throw that bothered me was his overthrow of Hartline on the sidelines, it also went wide to Hartline's left, on a big third down play. I think there was only about two minutes left in the game. A first down there would have iced the game, but the Chargers ended up getting the ball back and almost had a Hail Mary to win it. Nice job by Grimes slapping it down. But all-in-all I think Tannehill is doing a nice job given the changes at O-line every week. I just wish Wallace wouldn't disappear for long periods of time. He seems to go into a funk when he is not being targeted.

"Average is about 85.

However, there are other measures associated with quarterback play that are fairly strongly correlated with winning on which Tannehill is well below average (such as adjusted net yards per pass attempt, where he's currently 27th in the league), hence my statement that he's been, overall, average to slightly below average, considering all the relevant data in addition to QB rating.

And I'm also being somewhat generous. " Shou

Your also beating a dead horse while at the same time...amazingly both patting yourself on the back, and tooting your own horn. Which, I have to give you credit....to do all that at the same time takes a ton of talent for what ever it is that you do.
