that's your opinion, not fact. Right... look at 4 starters and then look at their individual stats compared to other 3 teams like I mentioned. Feel free to keep in mind that Adewale played last year with a torn ankle tendon.

Ignoring facts from last season I see. Who cares if they were blitzing a lot. It doesn't mean that they are better blitzers than the bills, Pats or Jets.

Not at all... I didn't say that Chicago blitzs better then the Bills, Pats or Jets (IMO they blitz better then the Jets but that's irrelevent). I simply said that they played a lot of 8 man fronts and blitzed a lot in a game where no game planning was done so if you want to take what you saw from the 1st preseason game and "speculate" how bad the Phins are going to have it against their AFC East foes then be my guest but if you think that the 1st preseason game is a true indicator of what a team's performance is going to be come Sept. 11 then you've lost all crediblity with me.

speculation. Until that happens, all you did was play Ms. Cleo.

Right... just like you're speculating that the Phins are going to have such a harder time against the AFC East defenses because of the first preseason game. It's ridiculous....of course, the Phins are going to game plan in the regular season for Buffalo's blitz packages...if they don't... you'll see Nick Saban back in the college ranks.

someone needs some comprehension lessons.

should a punted instead of trying FG...prolly would a won

Late into thread, but I thought QB's, passing game (and even OL) looked promising for a preseason game and especially in comparison to last year.

Although I think he'll likely get cut, I also thought Berlin looked good, particularly considering all that's written about him.

I don't think you can judge this game at all by W-L, it was a preseason game and I thought Saban was coaching as such and not necessarily for the W.

That's exactly it in a nut shell. It was the 1st preseason game not the 1st regular season game.

Preseason is not about winning, it's about evaluating, if you don't let Mare try that 54 yd. Field Goal, how are you going to evaluate him in a real game situation? We didn't have another shot at a FG in the game, so that was Saban's only chance at evaluating Mare. I think he made the right call... and I think he should have made that same call in a regular season game as well. Gone are the days of playing not to loose instead of playing to win. Good riddance to Dave Wanstedt and his pansy play calling.

Agree we likely would have won had we punted. But at the time I thought Saban was using the preseason game to see a) if Mare could make it, and b) if the defense could come up big and hold. Unfortunately we didn't do either, but again preseason is a good time to find out. It also gave the O a good chance to see what they could do with the game on the line.

Exactly... how can you evaluate your team if you don't put them in those situations? Better to find out now, than in regular season.

Those are our combined QB stats for the game... if anyone had asked me before the game if I would take those stats, I and everyone else on here, would have taken them in a heartbeat. If you remove the Interception at the end that would have left us with a combined QB Rating of 104.3.

Here's a breakdown of each QB's stats

A.J. Feeley
4 for 7 0 TD's, 0 INT 35 57% completion and 70.5 QB Rating
(had DT caught his pass the comp goes to 71.4% and QB rating to 94.3)

Gus Frerotte
11 for 17 1 TD, 0 INT 143 64% completion and 110.6 QB rating

Sage Rosenfels
6 for 9 1 TD, 0 INT 58 66% completion and 121.5 QB Rating

Brock Berlin
11 for 14 0 TD, 1 INT 117 78% completion and 71.7 QB Rating
(Had he not thrown the Interception he would have had a 101.5 QB Rating)

So ponder and discuss... from those stats the QB position doesn't look too bad now does it?
It would if you had a qb like Peyton Manning.:D A qb rating at 95.43, send those qb's to NFL Europe.:rofl3:

Before 2003 Peyton never had a better than 95.43 QB rating, his career average QB rating is 92.3 right now.

I would take that as Peyton has gotten alot better in the past two years, or the talent around him has just started to produce. Lets hope the fins qb's can up their game as well. It's too bad we aren't in the same division anymore. I'd love those two guarantee'd wins a year. BTW are the fins better off with Ricky the pot smoker than the Edge?:rofl3: If he keeps racking up those 8 yard games he could be in Canton before year 2050, thats if he stays healthy.:rofl3:
