3rd and 8 why run?

The call, along with the time-out on 4th down, that will keep me awake tonight. I want to punch Philbin in his bald ****ing head.

Our coaching staff made a lot of questionable decisions today . From start to finish

Why don't we tell tannehill if you have an open receiver throw the ball and ice the game if its not there run and the clock still runs. But no we just run the ball and give it back to Rodgers with over 2 minutes. The defense played there asses off and philbin the wimp just puts more pressure on them by saying its all up to you guys because I'm too afraid to call for a pass on 3rd and 8. Unbelievable!!

Because Philbin sucks as a coach. Let Tannehill throw the ball and get completion or get the first down to win the game. EVen if it's an incompletion, there would be time for the packers to make a drive anyway, plus running is playing not to lose, whereas, passing it is playing to win. Ironically the phins tried being cautious and not to lose and they lost. Running the ball didn't help, because it was 3rd down and the packers still had the 2 minute warning, plus there was enough time in the game that they couldn't get clock down to 2 minute warning either. And the packers still had 2 min 10 or 15 sec before fins had to punt. Stupid

What player is the guy with the dreads or longer hair that got the winning td caught on him? God, I'm so annoyed with him. I had a feeling that aaron might not spike the ball and would try the marino fake there. Not only did dreadlock fins cb watch the throw right in front of him and know what was happening, he let and half ass tackled or didn't tackle the packers wr and let him get such a big gain. On top of that the guy got out of bounds. If he actually tackled the guy, he would've been taken down inbounds, with time ticking and packers not as close. The dolphins choked as usual.

If I'm not mistaken we ran on 1st and 3rd. If that was going to be our strategy , Why not run on 2nd as well ? I mean you didn't even attempt to convert 3rd down.

After the first run GB called their last timeout affording us the opportunity to attempt a pass. After it fell incomplete it was the smart decision to run the ball on 3rd and if the conversion were to fail (which it did) we were then able to knock off :46 seconds from the game clock.

yea but you NEVER give one of the best QBs a chance if you don't have to. That choice there was giving a great QB a chance to win!

I am more baffled by the 2nd down pass lol. We should of done 2nd and the 3rd downs runs or 2nd down run and 3rd pass like you said.

Philbin played not to lose...you cannot do this against a smart QB like Rodgers...we gave them so many extra chances that we go what we deserved.

My issue is... Make a damn decision and stick with it. If the decision is to get the first down and end them game then throw the ball all 3 downs! If the decision is kill time and let the defense win it, then run the ball all 3 times, make them use all their timeouts and let your defense win the game with less than 2min on the clock. Make a decision and stick with it

Every single thing about that play's situation, worked against it.

The time on the clock.
The score.
The field position.
The opponent's ability to move down the field.
The running back chosen to run (a <100% Moreno, and not Miller)

Makes zero sense.

no way. giving up a chance for a first down (and thus winning the game) is not worth the 40 second difference. every dolphin fan knew rodgers was gonna run the length of the field, 40 extra seconds or not. tannehill was on fire in the 2nd half. should have gone for it. we absolutely ****ed up a chance to win a huge statement game.

One guy is saying they should have passed on every down and another guy is saying they should have run on all three downs yet everybody is in agreement that Philbin ****ed up...

We gave Tannehill an opportunity to pass for the win on second down, we failed miserably. We also gave Rodgers just barely enough time to get it in, if our defense makes one more play and its game over, so I would say two runs and one pass was pretty much the perfect aggression balance in that scenario.
