IF we do get rid of the coach like a lot of you want...who would you "realistically" go after?Cowher..Fisher..Some coordinator?I personally think sparono is a good coach, but that's just me.I really believe we are either there with henne or about to be there with a qb if henne can't get it together this season. .Remember we were winning 4 games and having 1 game seasons b4 he came in.So would someone let me know some candidates that won't be a downgrade from tony.Im not trying to argue or anything.I just want some opinions of who can get us to a superbowl.

SN:If he does get the boot, can we get someone without a mustache -__-

I still think this is the best team since idk when on paper..take it with a grain of salt.Maybe im wrong and its not saying much about our team the past decade.. but I think we are pretty decent across the board with very few holes qb,rt and te being the most glaring

That is what people don't think about, all they care about is getting rid of Tony. Cowher? The guy that took 15 years to win a Super Bowl? Most couldn't even give Tony three seasons, no way Cowher would get the time he needs. Gruden? Won a Super Bowl with Dungy's players and quickly became hated by his players. Some hot shot flavor of the year coordinator, who if he doesn't win in year one will be start being called to be replaced? Another college coach? Can you say a Saban repeat? Worst yet, what happens it we end up with Mike Nolan? Ugh.

Just be careful what you wish for. Tony took over a 1-15 team and has a winning record over three years. Things could be a lot worse, like Nolan as head coach worse.

Even though Henne would never be my first choice I have to cheer the kid on because thats who we have. Its an important year for him. Its basically make it a break it. Human nature dictates the best comes out in a man when his career is on the line. He is who he is and he is our QB so we just have to go with it. Hey, if he does great and gets a nice new contract we all can lie and say we knew he was going to do it. His backers will call all us doubters out and pound on their chests saying they told us so. As long as we have a good team, thats all I care about.

I feel like we are on the cusp..I just don't want it all to be blown up..on defense and some of the offensive parts also.Nolan leaves, defense has to learn new scheme 4 example.I know we can do well..why can't we if henne plays at least "decent"? he has so many jobs in his hands this season.Including his own

Post what Cowher did in his first 3 seasons in Pittsburgh and then explain to me how he gets fired or how fans would want him fired. Do that. Please. Clean your loupe.

Gruden - He ****in blows. He's another huge myth. He's Parcells like in that regard. Couldnt agree with you more. Gruden fell *** backwards into a title. On top of all of that he is a punk. I dont care for him and never will. I cant stand even watching him on ESPN. He's all hype.

Nolan - Youre sleeping on him. So he didnt have a great record in SF. That dosent make him a bad coach. He wouldnt be my leading candidate but, I certainly wouldnt be upset if he got the job.

And stop telling me Tony has a winning record. He got to 11-5 on Chad Pennington's shoulders. That and the fact we played the easiest schedule we have played in 3 decades. The perfect storm of playing the NFC West and AFC West(when KC sucked) in the same season coupled with playing the last place teams from the previous season in the AFC South and Central. A guy named Tom Brady also just happened to get injured in week 1, missing both contests that we played against NE. Give that **** a rest already.

Besides, what is he? .500? Thats not good. Whats his home record btw? You place too much emphasis on the HC's record anyway.

Sparano cant manage a game for ****. On top of that his philosophy is dated. We could put an all star team out there with a real QB, and Sparano could damn well find a way to **** it all up in the playoffs with some boneheaded clock management.

There are plenty of good candidates out there aside from anyone you mentioned.

I don't care who it is, just make sure he's not an idiot and has more experience than line coach.

What people care about is the overall package. What the people care about is an aggressive front office which will take care of the most important position in all of football--the same position Sparano and Ireland have for the most part ignored. Sparano does not get all the blame here. In fact most of it is on Jeff "Safe Pick" Ireland. In case you haven't noticed, we're just a tad sick of conservative FO's who draft corn-feds and play it safe on QBs.

I don't care whose players Gruden won the SuperBowl with. The fact of the matter is Dungy couldn't win with those players, but Gruden did. You trying to diminish the accomplishments of 2 SuperBowl winning coaches in favor of a mediocre coach is beyond pathetic. While Sparano has an overall winning record( by 2 games ), he has now posted back-to-back LOSING seasons. At this point Sparano is closer to Wannstedt than to the the SB winners you mentioned.

Im still waiting for Nubs to post Cowher's accomplishments in his first 3 seasons with Pittsburgh and explain how he would possibly get fired or how any fan would suggest he shouldve been.

I get sick of that completely flawed 15 years to win a SB argument as if Cowher was 7-9 garbage every year for the first 14. Yea, a guy is going to consistantly win for us and there is no way he sticks 15 years just because he hasnt won a SB yet..... GET REAL.

Since Nubs wont do it because he is incapable of being rational, let me help him out.......................

He became the fifteenth head coach in Steelers history when he succeeded Chuck Noll on January 21, 1992 – but only the second head coach since the NFL merger in 1970. Under Cowher, the Steelers showed an immediate improvement from the disappointing 7-9 season the year before, going 11-5 and earning home field advantage in the AFC after the Steelers had missed the playoffs six times out of the previous seven years. In 1995, at age 38, he became the youngest coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl. Cowher is only the second coach in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first six seasons as head coach, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame member Paul Brown.

So he takes a 7-9 team(sound familiar) and gets homefield advantage with them in his first year. Then IN HIS 3RD SEASON, goes to the ****ing SUPER BOWL. PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR for his first 6 years. Yea, thats real similar to Sparano. :rolleyes2:

I could see how we would get impatient with results like that and want him fired. No way he wouldve ever made it to year 15 in order to win that Super Bowl. GET ****ING REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tony Sparano ****ING BLOWS. Get that through your head Nubs. You sound ridiculous with these nonsense arguments like trying to suggest Cowher is no better and that certain fans wouldve wanted him fired.

The haters will find an excuse to hate on any new coaching acquisition if it does indeed happen.

Bill Cowher? "Took 15 years to win a Super Bowl"
Jeff Fisher? "Coached for 15 years and didn't win jack"
Tony Dungy? "Took 10 years, two teams and Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl"
Any of those three not listed? "Who the hell is this loser?"

The fact of the matter is you will never able to satisfy these people since their minds are so construed and twisted with some unrealistic fantasy vision of what they think a Super Bowl championship team would be like.

The only thing im not too happy about Sparano leaving is Nolan said he would leave as well. I really like Nolans scheme he runs here and I myself wouldn't mind promoting him to head coach if Sparano doesn't pan out this year. I know Nolan was stuck with the 49ers but he groomed Patrick Willis into the best MLB in the game today, as long as Daboll pans out as the OC we probably won't have to be worrying about a new HC anyways.

The only thing I have a problem with him is that is doesn't have the right mind set for today's NFL
