They are trying to be optimistic about him. Good for them. Maybe he will move inside to guard and be a decent backup for the 49ers. Maybe he will be out of football before the first week of the season. Maybe he will cause problems in the 49ers locker room.

Maybe I just don't care anymore. :up:
 
Wouldn't surprise me to see him cut in camp so they can keep their pick

Unless he suddenly experiences a dramatic improvement in his level of play, I think there's a real chance he will be a camp cut. Lost in everything with Martin is that he was just a lousy player who struggled really, really badly in his sophomore season. A change of scenery will probably help him, but I agree with Jon Martin in the texts he sent to his parents: Jon Martin's biggest problems are mostly Jon Martin.

It's why I can only laugh at the political brigade crowing over this move, as if shipping the guy off for the most inconsequential value it's possible to trade someone for somehow vindicates the career of this incredible renaissance man. A young man with the soul of a poet and the heart of a lion. A virtuoso who has languished in hell and is now ready to blossom on a greater stage...

You know we traded a conditional pick for a pretty lousy left tackle last year and somehow it was a brilliant move but SF does the same thing and of course they are stupid
