4th and 5 a GREAT play by Tannehill (at first I thought not....)

Honestly I thought the call was a genius call especially since it worked. New England dropped back to defend the first down. Only reason it looks bad is Hightower disrupted the play and caused Tanny to adjust, but if you look at how it developed, NE was caught off guard. Hightower making that play IMO is the only thing that prevented that from being an even bigger gain because Clay had to adjust to the ball.

It took an AMAZING adjustment by Tanny to get that ball out to Clay -- adjusting his arm angle and throwing ball quickly. Clay made a great adjustment to catch and then wiggle free for the first. Amazing play by both Clay and Tanny, but you are right: The play would have gone for more had Hightower not almost killed it before it started.

Well on the TD pass to Thigpen Tannehill actually said he didn't even see Thigpen when he threw the ball. He said McKinnie was blocking his view and he just threw it based on his feel for where everyone was on the field.

That scares the hell out of me, I'm thankful it worked out but I would rather him run or at least see what he is throwing to especially against belicheat....It was only 2nd down and FG ties the game a pick and we lose in that situation..i hope he doesn't make a habit of this......McKinnie is huge, he stands out against anyone, not surprised RT couldn't see around him....

Yes it was a great call especially since it worked and Belicheat wasn't expecting it, bet they were looking for the quick slant on the other side with Hartline....but my favorite call was the play before, Philbin knew he had two plays to get 16 and on 3rd down he picked up 11with a strike to Hartline because the Pats were giving it to us and then without hesitation we go for and get 5 more...don't think Belicheat was expecting it....Philbin clearly won that battle...he out foxed a fox......

I hated the call. It worked ONLY because of two outstanding indiv efforts that saved sherman's hide.

So my wife sat and watched the game from the point the Phins started doing ok in the 2nd quarter. She has watched a total of 1 game this year, maybe.

In the middle of the 3rd she pipes up and says "do they pass every time he yells go and run every time he yells go go?"

I managed to keep a straight face and say, "yes."

Her response, "why is he faking a run when he just told the defense he is passing?"

great. f-ing. question

Ya, i'd say there was a nice adjustment by Tannehill here :)

And yet Ryan Tannehill's passer rating on play action passes is outstanding. It really doesn't matter. The defense still reads their keys.

We will live and die by how well they protect him. He is doing an outstanding job when he gets more than 2.5 seconds.

I have seen some runs that I thought the DEs sold out to the RB on a gogo. In the Tampa game I was convinced of it.

Regardless, I hope it's a long con and we go flea flicker on gogo some day.

This caught my eye so I payed close attention watching NFL Replay.

2:19 3rd Qtr, 2nd & 1 -
Tannehill yells "go" and proceeds to hand the ball off to Miller for a gain of 5 yards for a first down in the redzone at NE's 13.

15:00 4th Qtr, 2nd & Goal (2) -
Tannehill yells "go-go", fakes to Thomas, fakes the reverse the Wallace and throws the go ahead TD back to Thomas.

Looks like we changed it up at crucial points and it worked quite well. ;)

Tannehill is putting up great numbers, the running game is much improved, we're winning games and people are still bitching about the go/go-go thing? Just because its different and you don't understand it doesn't necessarily mean its bad people.

Actually, I read recently that Philbin is using player tracking software at practice so I'm sure he has actual measured data on this. Supposedly, he's the only coach in the NFL using this software, its called innovation and I love it.

im so happy we didnt punt....a punt there would have been disastrous,i wonder whats our 4th down percentage for the entire season thus far?

i just came up with a new nickname for clay..."Claymaker"...heh

I cringed when I saw what was happening.

But Tannehill got the ball away, Clay worked some tight space magic

AND (something that has plagued us on screens all year) Sims made the key block that sprung Clay beyond the line of scrimmage. If Sims misses that block the play is dead at -3yds and the game is maybe lost. Small margins and everybody contributes to them.

This play was awesome. I love how there was no hesitation to go for it, at least it didn't appear that way. Offense never even looked like they were going to the sidelines for a punt attempt. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms were just expecting us to punt but I don't know if it was even considered. Confidence.

Side note...

Tannehill - "Go! / Go Go!"

Manning - "Hurry Hurry! / Omaha"

Ryan - "Express Express!"

Kaepernick - "Red80 Red80"

They all do it in some form or another.

because the defenders still react to what they see on the field. plain simple.
