7/29 - Camp Tweets

After looking at Danny's sig i don't think so dude. It's perfectly clear to me :)

Satele is a sensible option but as hoops indicated it would mean a soft interior. I think the Smith experiment is intended to avoid a soft interior. You've already got major issues in that regard if Dallas Thomas indeed starts. I'm still hoping we discover someone else for that spot prior to the opener.

Unsigned veteran centers floating around the league are invariably soft types. I mentioned that a month ago when the Pouncey injury news broke. That trend has held up since I was a kid. Seems like you can really stick around in this league if you are a versatile interior guy who is also tough. We had a player like that in Ed Newman during the '70s. I'm still annoyed we bypassed Brian Schwenke last year when he was sitting there in the 4th round. Schwenke is a battler who is tough as nails and can play any interior spot.

Dallas Thomas better start showing something or Billy Turner will be given the nod. I would have no qualms in making the switch tomorrow morning.

The biggest issue is the snaps. If anyone recalls, Pouncey struggled early in camp his rookie season but straightened it out. Smith may very well do the same but it doesn't hurt to explore other options.

No question he is a much better fit for the ZBS but I'd rather let the kid learn his position then try and flip him to center.

I was just going to mention this. I think they will stick with SS. The first preseason game is 9 days away. Too much panic here IMO but the media is hungry for negative press so its just part of the territory here.

I certainly do not think we should ignore the problem but we don't know exactly how bad the injury to Brenner is and I am not exactly sure most dolphin fans want him at center. I would just keep Smith in and get Larsen moved up to second string and use Garner in a pinch. I would much rather give up some movement skill for stability and also getting another rookie into the mix for the future. Larsen is a four year starter I believe. I think we should just start getting him involved more.
