A Bills Fan's Take On The Dolphins

Interesting post, I think one has to agree 100% that the OL, until proven otherwise, has to be a concern, Feely is harder to simply dismiss as not being a good starter on what was shown last year, the OL was awful, that goes hand in hand with hurting the running game as well as the passing game.
I'm still not thrilled with losing Surtain and having no clear cut number 2 corner, even Madison, getting older, not crazy with a secondary that has him as the top corner on the team.
I think the Feely matter brings up the age old question how good should a team's QB be? SB winners like :Trent Dilfer with Baltimore? Brad Johnson with the Bucs? Kurt Warner with the Rams? he's since moved on to two other teams. Where are the Colts with Manning? people can think it's going to be his year...I'm not one of them, where's the upgrade on defence?
Even in Buffalo, some were probably not happy to lose Bledsoe, Losman didn't exactly impress, but I think history will show it was the right move for the Bills. Cowboy fans may be thrilled with Bledsoe, I think Buffalo did the right thing, what Losman will do has yet to be seen, a team has to take chances sometimes ( see Patriots and Brady )

I would be more concerned about how the Bills do this year.I wouldnt be surprised if the Dolphins finish with a better record.

IMO this will be a transition year for the Bills .Losman is no Marino and it will take him a couple of years before he becomes average.

First off, I just wanted to mention that I am NOT a troll, I didnt come here to talk smack, just to voice my opinion and talk some football.!

On your offseason.....

You by far had the best offseason of the AFCE teams. You upgraded on both defense and offense. Hiring Saban was probably your best move.

On your draft....

Drafting Ronnie Brown was a great choice, he will be a great player someday and you desperately needed a RB. Your second round pick was questionable, selecting Matt Roth. It would have made more sense to look at CB or OL. You got a steal in Chowder(sp?) in the 3rd and Daniels in the 4th. You had the best draft in the AFCE

On your offense....

The only positions the Dolphins should worry about is the OL and QB. The problem is, those are the most impoiratant positions on the offense. Feely is NOT starting caliber, and I still dont understand why you traded a 2nd for him. You have a good RB in Brown and a good group of recievers, but I dont know how far your offense can go without a decent QB and a suspect OL

On your defense.....

The main question is at CB, where you got Rid of Surtain and with the injury to Poole dont really have a good #2. Saban should help this defense progress, and I see you being ranked in the top 10

Record: 7-9

Well theres my take on the Dolphins, hope to have some good football talk here at finheaven

Nice post. Thank you for the fact that you can come talk football with us without being rude and obnochious (sp?) As much as I dislike the Bills I don't go troll on their boards. I agree with about everything except the record and QB. With the addition of Linehan and Houck as well as a new recievers coach and Ronnie Brown, I think our O will be much improved. Also last year was not a fair assumption of Feeley. Our Oline was terrible, as well as our offensive play calling was horrible, and we NO running game. With a year under Feeley I think he will have a better year. I have spent time rewatching the Patriots game from the Monday Night victory not just because we won, but to see his decision making and he really IMO improved towards the end of the year. I look for him to have a better year, I am not saying a pro bowl year but a much better one. The only ? to me is the CB position we did lose to Surtain but by the same token, bash me if ya want to I didn't think Pat had all that good of a season last year he was hurt some and the guys really stepped up and never missed a beat. Sam Madison really showed up the game against the Bengals and done a fine job shutting Chad Johnson down. I will miss Pat alot but he is replaceable. I think that Reggie Howard as well as Mario Edwards will do a fine job contributing and if everything I have been reading is right our defensive style is going to be different anyway. We will not play as much man D in the secondary which will help cushion the loss of Surtain. Our D line will be much better. Let me also add that we played (and still competed meaning we didn't get blown out) with a lot of injurys last year. Bowens, Seau, Chester, Thomas, Surtain etc. all missed significant playing time and we still played well. In the game against the Patriots that we won we had a rookie Derrick Pope at MLB as well Brendan Ayenbendejo who had never started a LB before in his career and we won.

I think the Bills will be good this year the big ? to me, although just about every Bills fan I have talked to is pretty confident, is Losman. he is going to get his first of the NFL and 6 games against 3 of the toughest teams in the league we will see in a hurry what he is made of.

sorry bout the rambling guys I haven't had much time to post lately and the season couldn't get here fast enough. GO DOLPHINS.

Good post. I agree with almost everything you said. I think it's most reasonable to think that'll we'll win somewhere in the 7-9 game range. I'm going to take it one game higher than you and say 8-8.

Oh by the way... :welcome: to FinHeaven man :rawk:

I think picking up Stockar McDougle will help beef up the OL, but yes I think we are still quite lacking. You forgot a HUGE offseason move, getting rid of :ears: .

u can find this smilie :ears:at only two boards, finheaven and jets' board

i agree that taking matt roth was questionable, we have Taylor (among the best) holiday and carter (definately starting material) so adressing other positions that had both very few players and aging players would make more sense (unlike the sentence i just wrote)

I think you hit the nail on the head there dude. We are a heck of a lot better than 2 years ago and we went 10-6.

I also agree JP will only be an average QB. If Willis were to get injured.....it could be a long season for the Bills. Not to be rude, but I really, really don't like fans from other teams coming to this site and judging our team. I don't think anybody is more knowledgeable about the Dolphins the members of finheaven.

Welcome aboard...I dont agree with you in reference of the offensive line and Feeley. Good post tho.

Good post. I agree with almost all of your points here, but realistically I do think we'll go 9-7 next season. Our offense will become more versatile with Ricky coming back and hopefully Gus Frerotte as the starting quarterback. The offensive line is still suspect, but should improve tremendously on last year's debacle with better coaching and depth. On defense, I agree that our secondary could be a liability, but Saban's new schemes will really improve upon the vanilla defense Bates & JJ had installed here since 1996.

2005 Record: 9-7-0 (No playoffs)

Very nice post ... I agree on almost everything. I would like to see what Feeley can do with an improved line and a running game.

For most of last year defenses could pin the ears back & rush the passer ... there never was a real threat on the ground. I am not saying that he is definitely starting QB material or the answer at the position ... I just need to see more with more talent around him.

7-9 or 8-8 barring tons of injuries seems probable. 10-6 is out of the question whoever predicted that .... HOMER.

2005 = no excuses for Feeley ... OL improved, decent running game & a pretty talented group of WR's/TE.

We will see.

Sorry man, no offense but: Ricky, if he comes back and actually plays here, and Gus Frerotte are not the answers.
I agree on the o-line. But please dont use the phrase Vanilla defense anymore. You might as well give kudos, another phrase I hate.

Record anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6. Possible wildcard, but a huge step in the right direction.

Everything you said was pretty much on target. I agree with having a questionable O-line, and Feeley not a caliber QB.

I think you guys have a chance to get to .500 this year which would be a step foward from last season, but your Offense still has question marks at some skill positions.

Rookie RB is a tough call when making the transition from College to Pro ranks, it's a long shot that Brown will rush for 1000 yds especially with a questionable line.

Unproven QB that will only be successful if the line plays as a cohesive unit.

The biggest question is how Boston will respond and if his body can hold up, after being somewhat of a non-factor in the League over the past couple of seasons can he come back as the player he was with SD when he dominated.

Another question is Saban in his rookie season in the League as a head coach.. he could turn out to be the next Spurrior.
