I came across this on draftdaddy.com...

Safety LaRon Landry and linebacker Patrick Willis were the best defensive players in Indy. Landry looks like a sure-fire top 10 pick, too. He had a Hall of Fame workout and his interviews were outstanding across the board. I heard Baltimore absolutely loves Landry, but they have no way of getting him. His interview with them was supposed to be things legends are made of. He actually broke down Baltimore's tape by memory because he had looked at every tape his brother gave him and he told DC Rex Ryan where mistakes were made from memory and what he would have done given the pre-snap reads.

Landry is amazing. I want Landry a lot too but it really all depends on Jason Allen. Can he play CB? Are his hips fully back from surgery? Is 213 lbs too big to play CB? I hope J. Allen can move to CB just so we can get this guy.

Here's a sick photo on the same link of Adam Carriker owning Marshal Yanda. Carriker is not using any of his body weight to push Yanda back, that's all arm strength.

You know if Saban was still coaching, he would draft him. Would definitely be a great pickup, an instant starter. Probably much smarter than Allen also, from what that little article said.

Jason Allen is very athletic hence the 3.81 20 yard dash last year. He has the athletic ability to play CB at a high level, it's now about proper technique and footwork repetitions.

Sportingnews.com analysis:
Post-draft analysis:
Allen has been a fast-riser up the boards since the Combine. He's an outstanding athlete with great speed, versatility and ball skills. He has played both corner and safety, and the Dolphins have needs at both positions.

Dan Pompei analysis
Is a safety/cornerback 'tweener whose draft stock is tied to the condition of his hip, which was dislocated in the fifth game of the '05 season. Performed pretty well at safety and cornerback in college. Could be a safety on first and second down and then play cornerback on passing downs. Has outstanding ability. Is smooth and athletic. Can run and jump. Is physical, and likes to tackle. Closes well on the ball. Is comfortable in zone or man-to-man. Has the size to matchup with tall receivers. Performed well at pre-draft workouts. Bites on play-action fakes at times. Could be more aggressive.

Bottom line....... Draft LAron Landry!!!!!

We need offense way more than D at this point, BUT if our top D guys are gone, I wouldnt mind Landry if we go defense.

I am not crazy about drafting another d-back fin the first round for the 2nd straight year, but Landry does sound like he is going to be a great one so I could live with the pick.

Yeah, I feel the same way about drafting a safety two years in a row. Safety isn't a premium position and really shouldn't be worthy of a top ten pick. But I think I would rather draft Landry, who looks like he'll be an all-pro safety for the next decade, rather Levi Brown. If Allan Branch and Landry are both available at nine, I hope we draft one of those two.

if we go defense i want landry....but ofcourse i wouldnt mind going offense either

I think we take the BPA, and more than likely, Landry is it.

If Quinn is gone, Landry will likely be BPA at 9. That's where you go. You don't reach for offensive players if none are there.

Saftey isnt a premium position??? not worth a top ten pick??? Look at the superbowl winners of late.. and look at all the great defenses around the league.. all of them have top tier safeties. Ed Reed in Bmore, Polamalu in Pitt, look at the diff. Bob Sanders makes in Indy, Rodney Harrison in NE, Dexter Jackson was a stud when Tampa won the superbowl then look at how the bears defense slumps EVERY YEAR after Mike Brown gets hurt. then you got atwater and braxton in denver, butler and sharper in green bay, darren woodson in dallas, all who were great safeties on superbowl teams. a great Safety(ies) is/are a huge part of the defense. Safeties can take over games.
