This is just my opinion, but I think Philbin is doing a good job. I think you can only coach what you are given as players. Ireland is HORRIBLE and has been HORRIBLE! He was more aggressive this offseason, but most of it hasn't really panned out because in being so aggressive with skilled positions, he neglected the foundation of the team. His move to the number 3 pick in the draft has really not paid dividends, and Grimes is really the only really positive from all of it and that was a crap shoot! This is just my opinion, Ireland must go as it seems like he has maybe a 20% hit rate on players.
He makes some plays he misses some plays he deserves praise he deserve critique! Lots of people can't imagine critiquing him.
Absolutely. Absolutely. I have never, ever said he is elite. I have never said he is great. But he is far from garbage and he is getting better. He has a lot of potential, and he is showing that he has the ability to move toward reaching that potential.
My biggest problem with the plays they pick out to criticize is that I don't think those are the plays that should be criticized. He is BOMBING the football 60+ yards in the air, that is not something all QBs are even capable of. The timing of these plays is suspect. This is also on Mike Sherman, folks. He is dialing up plays where it is physically impossible for his QB to hit his WR in stride if the WR gets a clean release. Why?
I am far more concerned about his decision-making when he is scrambling to his right. Two terrible throws today on those plays. He needs to work on that ASAP. I don't understand how anyone criticizes the deep balls today when they were actually honest to goodness good throws that were productive for the team on 2 out of 4 tries with a third that was almost an amazing play in a desperate situation with the QB getting rocked. The interception was a terrible decision. The miss on the scramble drill to Wallace where he clearly thought Wallace was going to come back instead of going downfield was awful. Those are the plays that merit scrutiny.
The one to Clay on reverse scramble was nice. post replay.
I agree, but IMHO he makes more plays than he misses, especially under the circumstances he is faced with. He definitely makes his share of mistakes.....like going outta bounds last week that almost cost us the game.....but who doesn't, especially in their second year. I think Tannehill will be a winner if we can consistently give him some time to throw, and something that resembles a running game! At least they have changed the snap count up! heheHe makes some plays he misses some plays he deserves praise he deserve critique! Lots of people can't imagine critiquing him.
Like who? Seriously? I think hoops and I are probably the two biggest homers in his corner who have a high post volume and we both critique him for bad plays. He had two absolutely terrible plays today scrambling to his right and that's something that needs to be worked on badly, because I am seeing it as a trend.
Do you see the guys bashing him and saying we need to start Matt Moore giving him credit for some of the great plays he made today?
He was moving to his left and threw across his body. It was an impressive play, but it was to his left.
I'm the first one who said start him to bad the server ate my sig! There are dozens of ppl here that get warped if you say thill missed a throw etc. On the other side very few are off the deep end criticizing
I don't agree with you, but ultimately I think we both agree that people who lack critical analysis one way or the other contribute nothing to these discussions.
