A message to all Dolphins Fans

Where do all of you Dr. Panglosses come from? The sky is not falling. Patience. Patience. Rome was not built in a day. And whatever other cliches come to your minds at that instant. This organization has been bad for decades! That last Lombardi Trophy is nearly 40-years old. Stop pretending this is a recent phenomenon and irate fans, many of whom have squandered their hard-earned dollars for years or decades on season-tickets, are spoiled know-nothings. At least they seem to possess common sense, something not very common at all amongst the "love it or leave it set". There is a very common characteristic among the apologetic set, they are capable of great mental contortions to rationalize one setback or failure after another. Ireland didn't just get off the bus. He's been here a while. See any improvement?

Notice how the rationalizations work--hey, we didn't get Manning, Ireland or Ross can't be blamed for not wanting to pay him X-amount. But no one explains why we wanted him at all? Is that not a failing of ownership and the front office? Manning wasn't the answer. Manning wasn't going to achieve greatness here. He was a public relations band aid, period. I won't blame them for not overpaying a guy in Flynn who probably isn't any better than Moore, but don't send out signals like you're going to do something then do nothing. At this point the team is almost forced to do stupid things because the team needs to generate business at the gate. The fact that a fan protest was planned at all gives you a flavor of the public discontent. Don't preach patience to a fanbase when teams like the Bucs and Saints have won Super Bowls recently. This team should have a lot more than 2 Lombardis at this point.

The Steelers have 6 championships and 8 Super Bowl appearances since we last won a championship. The Niners, once a doormat, have 5. The Cowboys 4. The Giants 4. The Patriots have 3 championships and 7 Super Bowl appearances. This franchise has 2 Super Bowl losses to its credit since Nixon left office in disgrace! F-ck patience.

who cares if matt flynn only had 2 starts, he showed he can be a great qb in the league in those 2 starts, chad henne had 31 games and never once showed that he could be a great qb in the league. Face it, dolphins are the lowest its ever been, stop drinking the kool aid and face reality or lets say come back down to earth.

Miami traded a selfish, disgruntled Brandon Marshall for two third round picks when he will likely be suspended for being involved in an incident (again)

Miami re-signed Paul Soliai

Miami signed Richard Marshall, a versatile and talented defensive back that can play multiple positions

Miami refused to sign a 36-year old quarterback for just under 20 million dollars per year

Miami refused to sign a quarterback in Matt Flynn with two starts ever in the NFL

Not only has this team not drafted a single player this year, we have not played a single game. Chill. The. ****. Out.

If this organization is such a joke then let's hear of some personal instances of that case. Have you been involved in contract negotiations between the organization and potential free agents? Have you been in the room when the organization discusses the future of current players on the roster? Have you talked to the scouts and been involved with all of the events before the draft? Do you get paid to run an NFL franchise? Will you ever get paid to run an NFL franchise? Do you frequently come onto this forum after having more than a couple of drinks?

We get it. You want results right now. You want us to make that marquee signing and you want us to make that huge splash in free agency. You want and want and want everything right this instant, and you'll fuss and moan about it until you are blue in the cheeks.

If you are dealt a crappy hand in poker, would you rather go all-in with that crappy hand, or wait until the opportune moment to get a better hand and make a play at the jackpot. You can't just get pieces from 15 different puzzles and glue them together and expect it to look like anything presentable or have any kind of significance.

These things take time. Philbin hasn't been the head coach of this team for more than a couple of months. Do you really expect his blueprint to be fully intact before he has even drafted a single player or coached in a single game?

And let's be honest here. You threaten to cancel your season tickets and yada yada yada, but the second this team shows a hint of being relevant, you are back at the door asking to be welcomed back in. You know what you are?

A FAIR WEATHER FAN

So I repeat. Simmer down and relax. Don't get your panties in a bunch and don't raise your blood pressure over something that you can't control AND something that isn't going to happen any sooner than necessary.

No to mediocrity. No to blind faithers.
No to blindly lashing out at the entire team. at least tell the whole story.

FinsJC is right. There are far too many of you who act like your entire existence is tied to the Dolphins and whine every time the media distorts your perception of reality.

Its a Football i.e. entertainment. Treat it as such and don't talk to me of mediocrity or how some media "expert" is being a buzzkill. In Sports, like Life, things are cyclical. How long were the Raiders a joke? they are now starting to ascend again. Patience & perspective are the keys. The phins may be going through a dry spell but all-in-all would you rather be Rams, Lions, or Bengals fan?

Before your attempts to flame me; ask yourself this, "Why So Serious?" and then go get another hobby.... preferably meditation.

why should dolphin fans have any faith in the moves made by this regime? teh only time we were relevant at all with this front office is when tom brady was on I.R. jeff ireland has give me no reason to have faith in his football decisions

the raiders became relevant after their main decision maker lost power.....r.i.p. al davis

sports are cyclical because front offices that make horrible decisions for years are replaced by effective front offices which stay in place until retirement and are then replace by bad front offices again

do you understand that the only way that anything will change is when Ross feels it in his pocketbook...So actually dropping your season tickets means, I wont stand for an inferior product and if you want my money you better put something good on the field...people that are happy to watch us lose year after year because they are "REAL FANS" are part of the problem...

My dad had season tickets when the fins played in the orange bowl, I had them with him for 8 years but we both decided we were not paying for them again after ginn was drafted. I will not buy them again until this team looks like it actually wants to win a few games...

While I get what the OP is saying, it's kind of hard to stay positive when the team hasn't been to the superbowl since 1984 or won one since 1973. Then how many coaches, offenses, qb's,etc have we had in the past 12 years with promises of grander? True diehard fans that have been "all in" for at least 2 decades have a right to be pissed at the lack of CONTINUITY of this franchise. Look at the teams who generally compete year in and out. They don't do what we have done repeatedly for the past 12 years. The formula isn't hidden or secret.

This is exactly how I feel!! Good post, Being A sports fan is a hobby... Thats Right A hobby.. If hobbys make you so mad that you are fuming all the time than you need to work on other things in your lives people!!

I am fully aware of how ridiculous it is to be a sports fan, And I love my Dolphins for no other reason than the fact that It is fun to have a something to root for that I can be ridiculous and sometimes illogical about. I can't be ridiculous about making enough money to survive, or my business or my family but with sports you can let go. I am always hopeful that my team will get better even when the FO is making questionable decisions because If I wasent hopeful it would be no fun and hobbys are supposed to be fun. Some of you could say thats because I drink the Kool ade but the whole point is its f-ing football and its my hobby not my job or my family or anything really actually important in the scheme of life.

You want to talk about teams that are ****ing garbage right now?

The Seahawks were so desperate that they flew to Denver while Manning was there just to try to talk him into an interview, and Peyton wouldn't even talk to them.

You know why that's not news? Because nobody cares about the Seahawks. They're irrelevant. As bad as things are here in Miami right now, we're still relevant.

Dont you get it?

Of course Seattle is irrelevant..... its Seattle.

Us being relevant is not a good thing right now. When you shart all over yourself, the last thing you want is someone to shine a spot light on you and ask you to stand up in front of everyone. We need a ****ing corner to hide in somewhere right now. This team is an absolute joke. The difference between us and Cleveland is nobody knows where the **** Cleveland is or how to get there. That makes us the laughingstock and not Cleveland. We are the biggest losers among the relevant teams right now.

OP....... GET REAL!!!!!!

 At how you phrase.... we refused to sign Peyton Manning. Dont you mean to say Peyton Manning refused to so much as come visit our club, instead making us meet with him while he took care of some last minute things in Indy on his way to meet with teams he was actually interested in.
