A more realistic thought on the browns game

Sigh, its no use to even post here anymore. Too many of you have tunnel vision. Everyone points the finger at a couple of people and I guess other players have a get out of jail free card or something. Comeon now... I give credit where its due but damn this gets old. Its Henne this, Henne that. But never do I hear the D being called out. Why is this? Oh I forgot, according to some of you we have a top 5 D. Man our D looks sharp out there. Im glad we have Carroll starting hes the best shutdown corner in the league </sarcasm>

We've been really critical on the D, all those except for the couple delusional ones that can pull out some number saying Davis and Smith are really good corners (somehow). But the D is 11 players sucking as a unit, and it seems to be a different guy screwing up at the worst time every week. On the offense, we've seen the same guy screwing up in the same way for 3 years. There are certainly other screwups there, but Henne is the one player 95 percent of the people in the world who follow football thought should have been replaced in the offseason.

Put a different (competent) player under center, and the outcome of at least 1 of our 3 games would have been different. I can't necessarily say that about anyone on defense because they almost all suck.

Thats all I wanted to hear, that hes apart of the problem. That hes not THE PROBLEM. Too many just accuse him and act as if hes the reason for everything when clearly its not. In my first post I pointed out all the negative. On the bright side, we do have a steal in Daniel Thomas. I would however like to see more passes attempted deep to Marshall. It has all been Hartline and Gates. I dont know if this is because of playcalling or Henne. But it seems that our DEEP passes are those 2. Marshall gets the slants and YAC. Same with Bess.

And another thing that pisses me off. On that final drive for the Browns I don't think I saw a single blitz. They rushed 3-4 and dropped back the rest into coverage and Mckoy tore us a new one. Nolan really has me scratching my head this year. Maybe Nolan isnt worth all the hype afterall. I don't think hes impressed anyone since he left Baltimore. That tells me his players made him. Aka Ray Lewis and the gang. Also if I look at it like that it makes me question Ireland. If people like Dom Capers and Nolan had success in other places, why not here?! We have good free agent pick ups, but wheres the young talent. A good D line yes but what about the rest of the talent on D?

Not an exaggeration at all. Hell at the half he had only missed 2 passes. My thing is everyone points the finger at him but fails to address the bigger concerns. Henne is okay, leave him be.

Henne is not the only problem, but he is not part of the solution. The receivers are not getting open, so Henne is not the only problem.

The problem is talent on offense. Who are the must keeps on this team at the endof the year. Here are mine:

Long, Pouncey, Marshall, Bess, and Thomas (as long has he continues to have a good season).

Everyone else does not warrant the must keep label. That is the problem.

We've seen a couple to Hartline, but the deep passes have almost completely disappeared. Less and less each week. I'd gladly trade 5 Henne completions for a couple attempts at a deep ball. If we just hit one receiver in stride downfield (admittedly something Henne does not often do, but he's gotten way better at it) then it alleviates our red zone issues by eliminating the red zone.

Henne was not good in the 2nd half, and thats when it really matters. Sure, the Browns were getting good pressure, but Henne still had enough time to make most of his throws. Some of the throws he made were real head scratchers. A good QB will still convert even with pressure.

I'd rather have horrible DB play than mediocre QB play any day of the week. If Henne had been able to get us into the endzone any of those times he was in the redzone, nobody would give a **** about how Carroll played. Worrying about DB is something you do when you don't have to worry about QB anymore. None of the coaches we've had since Shula have figured that out.
