A question for those who actually live in the Miami area.

The last Dolphins game I attended was 2019 Monday Night at Steelers. I was there that weekend for Canes at Pittsburgh two days earlier.

I got a seat for $65 quite high in the upper deck and paid $5 to park a long way away using one of those services like ParkWhiz.

It would require the same type of thing for me to attend another pro game. I never even check. I'm all about value, to the point I spent less than $80 on food during a recently completed 25 day trip. I brought everything with me. It would have been far less than $80 if I didn't twice run into a Cici's.

3 dollars a day on food is impressive. I spend 5x that a day on beer. Maybe I should just cut out food altogether.

The game was sold out but many didn't show
Those who know the area, the stadium or even attended practice in Davie a few years ago know the sun/heat is no joke here. Staying for 3 hrs under that sun could result in a divorce lol

From what I know is a lot of season ticket holders don't show up and either couldn't sell their tickets or the ones they sold to didn't show up.

Also a lot of tickets in Miami are sold to away teams like NY and Buffalo and they don't show.

We don't have a solid base anymore in Miami.
What about the fact that the South Florida metropolitan area isn't sprawled in all directions like just about every other metropolitan area is(thus a smaller population base)? Just North and South. Couldn't that be part of the blame?

IDK about that. I remember the OB having a considerable number of opposing fans, particularly Jests, Putz, Jills games (usually drunk and obnoxious).

I also remember back when TV "blackouts" were a thing, TV stations often had to buy up remaining unsold tickets so they could show the game.

I guess we remember things differently......lol
How exactly did blackouts work back in the day? It wasn't just by affiliates like it is now? There was some kind of signal jammer? What about the keys? They have the same affiliates as Dade and Broward but they're farther than 50 miles(I believe that was the blackout range) from the stadiums. How did they avoid the blackouts?(If they did) I guess there are a couple or three repeating transmitters in the keys for all the local stations? How come the keys don't have their own TV stations? They have their own radio stations.

It was a certain radius of miles.

Remember, technology wasn't the same then.

When I went to games in the 70's and 80's the stadium was packed with Dolphin fans.

Things have changed a lot in Miami since then. Games now are almost 50/50 it seems.
Notice there are no kids in the stands, which wasn’t the case back in the 70’s and 80’s, when entire families would go to games. My family had six tickets and we all went and brought our friends. It’s a shame but its become way too expensive for families to attend games anymore. Back in the 70’s the Dolphins org would donate unsold tickets to community centers so kids who didn’t have an opportunity to attend a game could go. They also donated tix to pee wee football teams. No more.

Not including airfare, hotel and a rental car, it cost me and my son close to $1000 for tix, food and an Uber to go to a game last year.

I remember when the game were ALWAYS locally blacked out, the base has never been good.

we used to have to find a bar with an old style satellite dish (C-band?) that was illegally broadcasting the game.

and hope they didn't get busted during!

or drive up to hobe sound (which we did many times). saw the ricky williams game where he busted his first long TD run for us (after people saying that was the one thing he couldn't do, because he never really did it in NO).

As a public prosecutor I am shocked you would watch pirated TV !!! My faith in government is now at an all time low.

Or are you one of those people that just hangs out in court all day for fun? 😂
