A question for those who actually live in the Miami area.

IDK about that. I remember the OB having a considerable number of opposing fans, particularly Jests, Putz, Jills games (usually drunk and obnoxious).

I also remember back when TV "blackouts" were a thing, TV stations often had to buy up remaining unsold tickets so they could show the game.

I guess we remember things differently......lol
Sure. I remember that to when Dolphin fans became spoiled with winning under Shula but it was always like a 1,000 tickets to give them the rights which was worth it for them.

That's when South Florida became Cuba north.

Back then families could afford to bring their kids. Like you, that’s how I attended all those games in the 70’s and 80’s, with my family. Not anymore. NFL games are very expensive. Can you imagine a couple taking 3 kids to a game today? Even season tix holders would probably spend close to a couple grand to do that.
Excellent point.

There was a day when you could take the family for a couple hundred bucks, including snacks drinks and souvenirs.

Now? That could easily run $1200 for a family of four for decent seats. I know inflation is everywhere, but that's pricing the working stiff out of being able to take his clan to games on a regular basis.

Unfortunate.......

Lol..... Never had an issue with the Cubanos.

We used to park in their yards during games for $10. They stay there through the game and made sure nobody messed with your ride

As did we. Cheapest parking in that area but they weren't dolphin fans to fill seats.

It is sad to see not so many fans in the stands like the Orange Bowl.. hopefully McDaniel can change this

Back in the old Joe Robbie days I remember the Dolphins org giving unsold tix away to 100’s of local kids who would never have had the opportunity to attend a game. Scan the stadium during a game, no kids. This isn’t a McD issue. It’s an organizational philosophy. Starts with Ross.

14-2 in our last 16.

Let’s buy more tickets sell less to the opponent and support this which could be historic team

I have tickets for the Carolina game and will definitely be there. Wouldn’t miss it. First game in Miami. Can’t imagine people not going if they have a ticket. But a different perspective for those of us living close to Miami vs those of us that are long distance fans.

Demographically, things have changed a lot since the 70’s and 80’s. Not just ethnically, but in the amount of northerners resettling with their own allegiances. Add in decades of mediocrity and the old guard Dolphins fans are accustomed to arriving late and leaving early.

When I watch the games, I see a LOT of empty seats each week... but the games are listed as sold out. So... the tickets were sold, but so many seem to not actually be there.

Is this a case of they are out in the parking lot getting drunk... or are most of the no-shows caused by ticket agencies and poor resale numbers?

Anyone have a clue?
I speak from personal experience: at least a couple hundred seats are from people tailgating in the lot during the game and never decide to wander into the stadium. I've done it about a dozen times. Keep in mind, my hardcore tailgating days were mostly during awful dolphins seasons.

Heh! That makes a ton of sense.
I missed most of a korn/megadeth concert one time... got too drunk playing blackjack.

It does get hot as hell there. People would rather not deal with that. Not sure why they buy season tix if they aren’t going
