Following the game on Sunday, Miami Dolphins wide-receiver Mike Wallace was corralled by NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington. Darlington apparently was as surprised as the rest of the Miami Dolphins fans at the sudden change in Mike Wallace’s play. In the second half Wallace took a pass from Ryan Tannehill on the sideline and instead of going out of bounds lowered his shoulder and knocked a defender over instead of going out of bounds. Darlington asked him about that play.
“I’ve been lifting weights,” Wallace said. “I said it was going to make a difference and I have to prove it. We set the tone out there that is what we are about this year, what are going to do all season.”
Set the tone indeed. Wallace impressed more on opening day 2014 then his entire 2013 season. Wallace blocked downfield, he got aggressive in his routes, became far more physical, and even went up and out muscled a ball from the island himself, Darrelle Revis. For a touchdown no less.
