Ok, I hate to be pessimistic, so let's just say I'm conservatively hoping Ronnie Brown can be the next great back for us...

I bring this up because I've been reading on this site about how Ronnie Brown can be the next "Bo Jackson if Ricky can pass on some of his vision" and other high comments and everybody of course is really excited about him cause he is finally in camp and is catching every pass thrown to him...

The reason I don't share the same excitement as fellow posters about Ronnie is I don't have any proof to show me he'll be great. He didn't post great numbers in college because he split time with Cadillac. Which means he didn't impress enough to be the starter ahead of him. And plus, if Ronnie is so awesome why have I not seen any highlights of his runs during college.

Please someone show me a highlight of a run of his, cause I would like to share in the same excitement of optimism, but until then, I will wait and hope he actually performs like a #2 pick when it comes time for the "real" games.

Peace out!

No it doesn't. It means Auburn had two very talented RB's on their team. They were both on the field at the same time.

Where were you before and after the draft? There were many highlight videos on here. There was even one posted today. Do a search and you'll find them.

Ronnie had some nice runs in that video. He showed he has a burst he showed he could run with power he showed he could juke when needed he spun he caught passes and he also showed patience. Im EXCITED!!!!

the fact that he didnt start doesnt bother me at all.

all that tells me is that cadillac was a slightly more effective college player. thats it.

some guys are better pros than college players.

who knows? maybe cadillac will be all-pro and Brown will be right behind him

Thanks for the link! Great 4min reel. He looks like the complete package to me...I can't wait to see how he does against a first string D. I'll need to see two games, cause I'll allow for some rust to shake if he plays this Sat., plus Pitt is pretty solid....

I hadn't seen that since shortly after the draft. I love that short run vs. Tenn where he goes through 2 guys for the TD, knocking the dude's helmet off. He's a big, strong runner with speed. He's got some moves too.

One more time I will clear up the Auburn thing for you guys. Ronnie and Caddy were recruited at the same time, and as high school blue chippers, the coaching staff knew they had two great talents when both signed (most likely only expected to get one). Both are very good backs and instead of ruining one's NFL chances, the coaching staff decided to split time because they both brought different things to the table. One was the outside shifty runner (caddy) and one is the power back (Ronnie) it just happens that ronnie also had better hands in the passing game so he was the passing down back more than Caddy. Auburn knew that if they made one of these guys the starter over the other, the looser would have to leave because the nfl doesnt want a back up and Auburn wanted both to stay (every team needs more than one player at every position). It was a semi odd situation but Auburn made it worked ant Ronnie and Caddy were top 5 picks. So stop beating Ronnie up for his college days, you should actually be thankful for them because they taught him to be a team player and the being #1 back wasnt the most important thing, winning is!!

I made that "Bo Jackson" commnet.. I feel special. :D

- I hope your wrong. If your right , the Fins are going to be hurting with the cap # for a long time.

- I do think your wrong. Here's why : I think the guy is a gamebreaker. He's smart , very , very big , very fast & has great hands. Caddy went at #5. What a backfield!

Remember , Ricky was non-commital at the time of the draft leaving us with Minor , Gordon & Morris. Brown was the right pick. Having Rick is a great. We finally have a 1-2 punch.

Boy, you seemed to change your mind pretty quickly.

- If Brown looks like Bo I'll wet myself. Weekly. Wait I do that now. Sorry nevermind...

- Bo was the best damn athlete I have ever seen, bar none , no one is a close 2nd.

I'm looking for Brown to be better than him if we picked him ahead of him...
I know Auburn used Caddy a little more than Brown even though they shared time.

And you're right, some guys, are great in college, but aren't in the NFL, and some of those were top RB picks, ala Curtis Enis, Rashaam Salaam....So without enough production in college, I've got to be a little hesitant. However, the video reel I just saw made him look great... I just think no one should be comparing him to Bo Jackson or Ricky Williams or any other Pro Bowl back until he proves himself in game time. Because for right now, he's a huge ? mark to me, he could be the next Bo Jackson or he could be the next Rashaam Salaam....

My mind's not changed, I'm still not sold on him...It's true he looked great in those reels, that's all I'm saying...I'm hoping he does great in the games just like you all, he's a ? mark until he plays for real against real NFL defenses.
