I tivoed the Jets game, Jay was his old tippped at the line for an INT self

- Coach Saban also said this today about the upcoming season to the reporters :

Follow. But. Follow only if ye be men of valour, for the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived. Bones of full fifty men lie strewn about its lair. So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

That is as much misinformation as clearing things up. Cadillac and Ronnie WERE NOT RECRUITED AT THE SAME TIME. Ronnie was a 5th year senior who redshirted as a true freshman in 2000. He even played the first two games of that season before being redshirted. Cadillac stayed four years at Auburn, not five. I can argue that Auburn was no nonchalant about Ronnie Brown after one year in the program they went out and recruited Cadillac for the same position a year later. In fact, Caddy played ahead of Brown in 2001 when Cadillac was a true frosh to Ronnie's redshirt frosh status. Cadillac even had a game against Georgia as a true frosh when he carried the ball more than 40 times, if I remember correctly.

You are correct Dooger. IMO, Ronnie had proven himself to be a better back than Carnell since the 2002 season when he took over after Caddy's injury in the Florida game. Ronnie is an incredible back, that always seems to get positive yards. Carnell was more flashy, and could rip off a 25+ yard run or lose 10 yards trying to make something happen. That drove me nuts. Ronnie would plow ahead, block and catch passes; before you knew it he has some pretty good game stats. BTW, Tuberville said that the running backs that we have this year at AU are better than Ronnie and Caddy.:shakeno: Take anything that Tubby says with a grain of salt. I hope that your OL can open up holes for whoever is in the backfield, they looked a little shakey against the Bears, no offense.
Brandon Jacobs would make a great TE. As a running back he is plodder who was often tripped up (did not pick up his feet very high) and didn't have good field vision. A straight ahead plodder...
Good Luck this season-

As the 2nd pick in the draft, he was the right guy for us. No one wanted to trade down with us. In April, Ricky was a smoky haze. We desperately needed someone to tot the rock. If we didn't pick Ronnie, he wouldn't have gotten past Tampa Bay. He was not a reach! There have been countless college runners more productive than Ronnie (hell, even ex-Dolphins); Kareem Abdul Jabbar (remember him?), James Johnson (ring a bell?) and even Leonard Henry (he was here last year) He shared time with another great back and that affected his stats. Let's chill and see what happens...

- Dude , I love the name. My favorite player AND favorite dog.

No it doesn't. It means Auburn had two very talented RB's on their team. They were both on the field at the same time.

Where were you before and after the draft? There were many highlight videos on here. There was even one posted today. Do a search and you'll find them.

Props , my bro.:D

-scroll down to Ronnie's name under draft results
-click on the camera icon next to his name
-you will believe!!!!!!!

Two of the best parts of that video, other than the obvious nice runs and catches are:

1. When it's the DB or the Sideline, he choosed to run through/over the DB for more signs, that's a great sign.

2. When he has a great run/catch or touchdown, it's not all about him, it's flip the ball to the official and get ready for the next play. No showboating. This kid has all the tools and a great head on his shoulders. I'm really excited!

Brown had more all-purpose yards that Williams, and a higher yards/carry average. He caught the ball so well and was so fast that he sometimes lined up as a WR, with Williams on the field as the running back. (which only helped Williams' rushing stats when Ronnie was used as a decoy)
He hasnt shown anything in the NFL yet, so skepticism for that could be justified, but I wouldnt worry too much about his performance at Auburn

Ok, I hate to be pessimistic, so let's just say I'm conservatively hoping Ronnie Brown can be the next great back for us...

I bring this up because I've been reading on this site about how Ronnie Brown can be the next "Bo Jackson if Ricky can pass on some of his vision" and other high comments and everybody of course is really excited about him cause he is finally in camp and is catching every pass thrown to him...

The reason I don't share the same excitement as fellow posters about Ronnie is I don't have any proof to show me he'll be great. He didn't post great numbers in college because he split time with Cadillac. Which means he didn't impress enough to be the starter ahead of him. And plus, if Ronnie is so awesome why have I not seen any highlights of his runs during college.

Please someone show me a highlight of a run of his, cause I would like to share in the same excitement of optimism, but until then, I will wait and hope he actually performs like a #2 pick when it comes time for the "real" games.

Peace out!

Heres the real deal people dont know ronnie brown could of easily transferred and went to any other college he wanted to go...why cause he was a top 5 college running back last year and thats splitting carries with carnell. They split carries for the better good of the team to keep both fresh heres one for ya how will caddy do with out his crutch ronnie brown, not as well as ronnie.

Seems to me that Miami has seen this before, I don't know how many here are old enough to remember the 1970-1974 dolphins. Miami had the exact same problem during those years. We had two outstanding tailbacks. The talk was that one was going to have to leave. They ended up splitting carries with the two backs. They were Jim Kickk and Mercury Morris. Things worked out OK I think ;).... Auburn seemed to have the same problem. Two quality backs. They decided to use them in both. Miami now has two quality backs. Williams and Brown. I think things can work out again.

When he first got drafted, you'd hear people wonder why you'd take a No. 2 pick for a guy that didn't even start in college," running back Ricky Williams said. "But seeing him out there, there is really nothing that's not wonderful about him. He's got size, he's got quickness, he's got great feet, he's smart and he's strong.

"Looking at him, I definitely see why they used the No. 2 pick on him."

:)
