AFC East Discussion: Where do Dolphins Rank?

AGree with all OP 's ranking except for OL. I think our OL will be better than Buffalo's OL, and possibly rival NY's OL.

what the heck, I'll do one as well:

Coaching
1. New England
2. New York Jets
3. Miami
4. Buffalo

I am tempted to put NYJ #1 but you guys will think I am being a homer but BB would be a DC somewhere today if he didn't have Brady and obviously Rex hasn't had any Tom Brady types BUT I will leave BB at #1.

Quarterback
1. New England
2. Miami
3. NY Jets
4. Buffalo

going into this year there's Brady then everyone else but Ryan has shown the most so far so I have him at #2. There are bigger question marks w/ geno & manuel but we have the better backup so I will put NYJ #3.

Offensive Line
1. New England
2. New York
3. Buffalo
4. Miami

Running Back
1. Buffalo
2. NY Jets
3. New England
4. Miami

I think Spiller will have a big bounce back year and him and Johnson are an excellent duo. Chris Johnson appears to be fully healthy and along w/ Powell and Ivory gives us the best group of backs we have had in my lifetime. NE may get the most production as far as YPC but that is b/c D's worry about the pass O not the run game.

Wide Receiver
1. Miami
2. Buffalo
3. New England
4. New York

I think Miami easily has the best, I think the other 3 we could put in a hat. the best WR may be Decker and while Watkins is a great prospect he hasn't played a down yet.

Tight End
1. New England
2. Miami
3. NY Jets
4. Buffalo

assuming Gronk is healthy there's no doubt it's NE. we can flip flop 3 and 4.

Defensive Line
1. NY Jets
2. Buffalo
3. Miami
4. New England

a strength of the division, a case can be made for these 4 in any order but I love the youth of our DL growing up another year.

Linebackers
1. New England
2. New York
3. Buffalo
4. Miami

For us watch out for demario davis and I expect Coples to get double digit sacks this year.

Secondary
1. New England
2. Miami
3. Buffalo
4. New York

Can't argue w/ this one, the hope for us is our pass rush is strong to minimize the secondary kind of like NYG in their 2 title runs. I think Browner is overrated in NE but Revis isn't so they are clear #1. I think Miami is next up, Finegan is going to be a nice #2 BUT he will get you dumb penalties from time to time. Be prepared, he is a hothead.

I said it earlier but going through it these 4 are the closest they have ever been, NE is easily the favorite b/c of Brady but outside of him and Revis the other units are all pretty comparable w/ one another.

Just looked at the Dolphins schedule for the first time and it certainly looks daunting. It will be tough to make the playoffs, but certainly possible if certain things fall into place (quarterback play). Anyway with the preseason about to begin I wondered where Miami ranks in the division. Here's my stab at it, but I'd love to hear from other fans from our rivals. Haven't seen many of them here lately.

Coaching
1. New England
2. New York Jets
3. Miami
4. Buffalo

Comment -- Bellicheck is clearly the star here, but give Ryan props for getting the Jets to the conference title game without good quarterback play. Philibin is in a make or break season.

Quarterback
1. New England
2. Miami
3. Buffalo
4. New York

Comment --- Still a gap between Brady and the rest. How Tannehill, Manuel and Smith develop should determine what team challenges the Patriots for the division and possibly makes the playoffs. My money is on Tannehill and I don't mean that to sound homerish. I just think Tannehill has the most talent of the others and will make that next step with a new coordinator. A wildcard here is Vick. He is someone who could really help New York, but it will be interesting to see what direction the Jets go. Do they allow Smith to develop, or go with the proven vet?

Offensive Line
1. New England
2. New York
3. Buffalo
4. Miami

Comment --- Miami could move up, but has a lot of new comers here. New England and New York have playoff caliber talent. Buffalo's building here like the Dolphins.

Running Back
1. New England
2. Buffalo
3. New York
4. Miami

Comment --- This is a tough call. I went New England, but realize a lot of it is based on offensive line play. I think Spiller may be the best back in the division, but can he stay healthy. Johnson is hungry with New York so he could have a big season. The Moreno injury makes this a question mark for Miami, although the word on Miller's development is positive. The Dolphins will likely be much more committed to running the ball. It's a huge key for their season.

Wide Receiver
1. Miami
2. Buffalo
3. New England
4. New York

Comment -- Hardly a divisional strength. I think Watkins will eventually be the best receiver in the division. Miami has very good depth. New England gets a lot out of what they have. I like Dobson. Decker is a nice addition for the Jets. Hill is intriguing.

Tight End
1. New England
2. Miami
3. Buffalo
4. New York

Comment --- The two best tight ends belong to New England and Miami (Clay). Amaro could really help New York, but he is a rookie. I don't like the Dolphins depth at tight end.

Defensive Line
1. Buffalo
2. New York
3. Miami
4. New England

Comment --- A huge divisional strength. Buffalo, New York and Miami are likely all top 10 caliber on the defensive line with New England not too far behind.

Linebackers
1. New England
2. New York
3. Buffalo
4. Miami

Comment -- I may need some help here. I know Buffalo has had some injuries and it's pretty obvious Miami is at the bottom in this category.

Secondary
1. New England
2. Miami
3. Buffalo
4. New York

Comment -- The addition of Revis should really help New England. Miami has question marks, but Grimes is excellent and I think the safety combo will be good. I think this is an area that could be problematic for the Jets unless I'm missing something (possible).

Special Teams
Need help here. Is Westhoff still in New York?

That's pretty good list.

Only thing I would change is Dline.

Jets have the best Dline in the division.

I think we're pretty close. I can see your qb argument. I like Manuel better than Smith for now, but if the Jets go with Vick I think they will win more games short-term. I can also see your DL without much argument there. I do like the young talent the Jets have on the defensive line so players could even get better. I believe Buffalo, Miami and New York have top 10 defensive lines. It's a divisional strength to be sure.

Could be. Definitely young talent there.

Who has some luck and who has the most injuries!!!! Need both to take first this year in the east.
