Definitely not the time to be griping after our best offensive game in 2 years. There is almost some truth to the prospect that we could be 11-2. If you look down the schedule game by game and remember the things that took place in them anyway. The only game we lost decisively was @ New Orleans on a Monday Night game where I wouldn't make any team in the NFL a favorite today. Now the only thing is, you have to realize that every team plays some close games throughout any given season. Some teams seem to be in a one possession game at the 2 minute warning nearly every week. We are that team. Of course you can argue that we need to play better in those situations. Fact is, in every game that comes down to the wire, guess what happens? One team makes the play(s) to win the game. The other team does not. You're not always going to make them, that has to be accepted. In these high leverage odds swinging scenarios a lot of the time 1 play, maybe 2 or even 3 will decide the outcome. Anything can happen, meaning...very high variance. So yea, this team could be 11-2, but it isn't. We simply aren't an 11-2 quality team. Those teams put some of these close and late type games away before they become close and late. For instance, Carolina. The way that game went in the 1st half...if we were 11-2 good, that game is out of reach for Carolina, at least to the point of a comeback being highly unlikely. Instead we bumble around at inopportune times and leave a ton of points on the board. Just one example. We've probably come out on the losing end a couple more times than we should have as far as true talent level as a team. We're just a tiny bit of luck or a couple breaks from 9-4. Probably quite a ways from 11-2. The level of play on offense vs Pittsburgh would have beaten Carolina, Buffalo, and Baltimore. Gotta keep improving.
