So, how is Sparano going to fix the run game? You are bringing back the same OL you had in 2011 that's not nearly as good as it was in 2009 and 2010 when you had Faneca at LG and Woody at RT. You replaced them with Slausson and Hunter. You are bringing back Greene and Mcknight, neither of whom scare anybody, and shedding Tomlinson who was clearly done last season. That means Powell gets promoted to third RB by default.
That's been the Jests problem on offense during Tannenbaum's tenure as GM and especially during Ryan's tenure as HC. Neither give a rat's hairy behind for the offense, so after wasting picks to trade up for Sanchez, they didn't bother with the rest of the offense since. When veteran talent is lost through FA or retirement, they've replaced them with guys who haven't been good enough to be starters. Slausson wasn't good enough to unseat an old, fading Alan Faneca, and Hunter was a career backup who was never good enough to unseat anybody, least of all Damien Woody. Who replaced Braylon Edwards? Oh, yeah, aged jailbird Burress. Who's going to replace Burress as the #2 WR? A rookie WR whose total career receptions are significantly less than what top collegiate WRs have in a single season!
Tony Sparano's going to fix all those flaws because he's an offensive genius, right?
If the Jets season-ending 3 game losing streak was all about the failure of the defense, why, then did Holmes get so up in arms about Sanchez that he threw a hissy fit in the season finale and got benched? Could it be because he knows how a good NFL QB plays, and finally got tired of covering for Sanchez's failure to play like one?
