I won't bother to address the "expected to win" nonsense but... Do you think if Rex thought Sanchez could be a long term starter in this league he would have brought in Tebow? It's not stupid, it's a fact. Winning when you are expected to win is much more difficult than winning when you are not expected. I only wish Miami as an organization felt the same way and didn't address the QB position. do you think if they thought Moore could be a long tern starter in this league they would have drafted a 1st rounder and signed Garrard?
team vs. individual are 2 different things, the Giants as a team are elite, Eli as an individual is not. Doesn't have elite #s, in 2 SB seasons NYG won 10 & 9 games, threw 25 INts just a year ago.
Ahhh, so numbers are relevant again? Ok cool. Nobody in their right mind would consider Snatchez's numbers to be "starting calibre" or even good by most accounts. And he hasn't won the SB, forget winning 2 SB's and being named MVP. Snatchez threw 5 INT's in 1 game. Eli has never played that poorly to my knowledge. By your own argument, we should be agreeing that Snatchez is terrible.
Awaiting your spin sir...
The Jets as a team from '09-'11 are the ONLY team in the NFL to reach 2 title games, are the ONLY AFC team to win 4 playoff games and one of 4 teams in the NFL to win 4 playoff games. That's elite.
They're also the only team to do all that and NOT win the SB or even make it there. Perhaps if they had Eli they'd be elite...
