AFC is WIDE open

Why is anyone surprised that Pats make up things on the fly and keep winning? They have done it for years and will continue to do it as long as Belichick and Brady are there.

The patriots would get housed by either sf or Seattle....and they aren't going to the Super Bowl. The AFC is just atrocious.

I don't think Baltimore going to the SB last year was so unexpected. Yeah they hadn't been in years but they still had the same type of players as they did 12 years prior.

KC on the other hand, when's the last time they've done anything in the playoffs?

Baltimore was mediocre most of the year, the fans wanted Flacco gone by the end of the year. It was shocking that they went on a SB run, they were 9 pt dogs vs. Denver then 7.5 against NE. It wsn't a shock they beat SF b/c they were rolling by that point but they lost 4 of their last 5 reg season games and were not very good until that playoff run.

If we win Sunday I'll believe a deep playoff run is possible. Because of the years of disappointment I'll still be nervous about tripping up vs the Bills or Jets though. The AFC is weak every team has it's flaws. This wouldn't be the first time we've seen a strong pass rushing team make a big push in December and January. My gut tells me we lose Sunday and arrive next year.

This team is better than their record IMO. The problem is the lack of adjustments at half time and the killer instinct. If they learn how to finish games, they definitely could make some noise. This game against the Pats will tell us a lot about this team.

cosign. I just want to get in because then its a whole new season!

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think the AFC is actually superior to the NFC. The media loves to talk about the NFC, Eagles this and Cowboys that blah blah. I think the AFC is better and whatever AFC makes it to the Super Bowl wins. Let's look at some "dominant" NFC teams this year. Saints- beaten by the Jets.... the Jets!!! Geno Smith! 49ers? Seahawks? both beaten by the Colts! Not a bad team but certainly not the AFC's best team. Seahawks? Saints? great at home teams. Unless these teams get homefield throughout the playoffs, they won't even sniff the SB. Based on the above I think the Dolphins are on the rise, because we were in EVERY game (except the Saints game) this year and could've won most of them. Thoughts?

you know the current #1 seed in the AFC was beaten by the Jets too, right? and unlike NO Geno actually played pretty well against NE.

That further solidifies my point. AFC is better. The teams in the AFC are closer to each other in talent than the NFC is. You have been helpful for once, thank you!

the same would have been said of someone picking Bal last year, NYG in '07 and '11.

My line of thinking is I never trust Peyton in January, as great as Brady is he doesn't have a lot of help this year and has struggled in January in recent years, the Colts aren't that good, I can see Cincy making a run if Dalton limits mistakes but why not take a chance? KC is solid all around and is well coached.

I in fact picked the Ravens last year. I also predicted the Giants, but in their last Super Bowl a couple of years ago

The Pats are going to the Super Bowl and it makes me sick.

Not a chance. If we beat them this weekend, we would've beaten the Pats, Colts, and Bengals. DEN will be trouble but Manning also ways finds a way to lose his first game in the playoffs after a bye.

Not a chance? Come on...who beats them.

So many here are poking the Pats inside their cage. Silly.

we get in i have no doubt we can make some noise. i can see us making a run like the jets in 2009 and 2010. a 6-7 team (who we beat by the way) just went on the road in a primetime game and completely dominated the best team in the afc. we've already beaten 2 of the 4 division leaders, and have a chance to make it 3 of the 4 on sunday. man we have such an opportunity to make a statement against the pats that not only can we be a playoff team but can do some damage.
Let's forget the 'run in the playoffs' for a moment.
Let's forget what happened before.

it's just us and Baltimore. Baltimore will most likely lose on Monday night in Detroit. Sunday is the biggest game in years for us.

Exciting!

I think a padded room somewhere has your name on the door ;)

It is a huge game no doubt. The Patriots are playing for home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Dolphins are playing for survival. We've seen this script before. Until we beat the Patriots they still own the division. Given how poorly we played in crunch time in the last game in Foxboro I think the Dolphins realistically have about a 35% chance of victory. Let's hope I am wrong. If we are to make the playoffs we will do so by beating the Jets and the Bills.
