Last year at this time I was a bit more hopeful with new youthful linebackers to replace the aging Dansby and Burnette, A stout run defense led by big Paul Staoli basically the entire returning backfield that played farily well the year before plus Grimes. On offense we had Wallace as a big play threat along with reliable Hartline, a offensive line that returned Incognito a pro bowler the year before believe it or not, highly rate Pouncy, John Jerry who appeared to be improving a bit, Tyson Clabo a x Probowler at right tackle and Jon Martin the top 2nd round pick from the year returning, and Ryan T. returning after a decent rookie year. The biggest questions were loosing Reggie Bush, Jake Long and possible Anthony Fasano from the year prior.
This year fairly big questions loom starting with the lines and dealing with the run. Can we run the ball on offense and can we stop the run on defense. Big Paul is gone and we know our linebackers are questionable on defense and on offense currently we are soft in the middle of the line and our rookie right tackle run blocking is still questionable. The 2nd concern is can we stay healthy Albert has only made it through only one entire season in his career, Msi our inside linebacker gets nicked up and misses at least a couple of games a season every year and Grimes, Delmas and the new old safty all come with injury question marks the past few years of their careers. You have to into account Pouncy current knee injury and last year was the running back back Morenos first year to stay healthy also. Getting players from last years draft on the field like Taylor, Will Smith, Sims and hopefully a improving Miller bring some hope along with Clay, some hopeful picks from this years draft in Tripp, Laundry, Fede and hopefully Turner brings some hope to the table so we shall see. Gotta see the first couple of games to determine if Lazor is for real before I start forecasting much. I believe the coaches stir the drink and Coyle has proven as a coach he has a defense that is probably playoff caliber, now we need a offensive head coach equal to the task and the head coach to follow suit also. Philbin also has to prove he is worthy and has not convinced to date yet.
