i didn't jump on the bandwagon. i was uneasy with this team before RW retired and when that happened the wheels feel off. He was the centerpiece of the team. Our offense was COMPLETELY based around him. Now that that is gone we are not in good shape. Our O-line IMHO is not better than what is was last year. However, that doesn't mean I don't feel good about it. The line is young and I think will develop into a decent one but it's not going to happen this year, at least not til later in the year.
The offseason we had was absolutlely hilarious. I mean the amount of things that went wrong that's really the only way you can describe it. Some of you don't think this is an issue but it is. It's a big issue.
The reason I don't have faith in us being a team like the pats were last year is because we simply don't have the coaching. There are some guys with decent talent who could develop into good players. (Feeley i think could be one.) However, the resume Wanny has doesn't suggest he can turn things around. He's just not that type of coach. He doesn't have the flair to turn things around. We are NOT the pats of last year. we don't have a swaggert. we are too predictable. we have an enemic offense. the defense took a pretty good hit with the loss of AO. It will be interesting to see how they are effected. Our style of pass defense is a physical type and the league adjusted the rules against that style. I doubt our CB's can simply adjust like that.
So what optimism should I have, really? We traded for a decent WR and RB but they have been with the team what, a combined month? That's not even close to the amount of time it takes to get on the same page. This team may start to put it together a little bit on offense but it won't be til later in the season when it'll be too late. We are going to rival the Bills for last place this year. Put on your hard hats and strap in cause it's going to be a bumpy ride.
