AJ and Mueller

:yes: Agreed. But I'm just wondering, what are you thoughts on our QB coach Jason Garrett? Do you have any idea why he was third string on our Depth Chart at one time last year and than retired and became our QB coach? Any idea if he inexperienced or why we got him?

Garrett, while not a very accomplished QB comes from a family of coaches...father and two brothers....I think this must have been discussed when we signed him last year...he was out of ball for most of the season before we called him...He is inexperienced in that he hasn't coached long obviously, but as I said, he comes from a coaches family....

At this point it doesnt matter what mueller thinks of AJ. Feeley is already on the team. If he does well then Saban will keep him. If he doesnt do well, Saban will probably tell Mueller to try to get something for him. Muellers job will be to scout and acquire new players. Once a player is on the team, Saban and the player's on field performace will determine whether on not that player stays.

The thing with Garrett is before we got him, he was already a 4th String QB/Assistant coach in Tampa. He backed up Aikman when he was with the Cowboys so he learned a lot from him. That's the reason Gruden wanted him. He hasn't played in a game since 1999 if I remember correctly. He also was an assistant coach at his alma mater the year after he went pro(he wasn't drafted) since he was released. So from a QB standpoint :rofl3: , he has a good knowledge of how a QB should play a game. Hopefully he can help Feeley out.

I also feel that he must have a good QB knowledge and a high football IQ, I'm sure he must have learned a lot from playing behind Aikman in Dallas. And from a QB STANDPOINT , I look at him as one of those guys who has the knowledge of the game and playing QB but never quite had the talent to be a starting calibur QB in the NFL.

I agree. He's inexperienced at coaching because he's never coached in the NFL but the guy is from Princeton and I think he's pretty bright. Also, good to hear that he comes from a coaches family, I'm hoping he'll be able to teach and help out the QB's on the our roster.

I dont see anything in Mueller's past that would lead you to believe he is a great judge of quarterbacks.

He had Aaron Brooke, Jeff Blake, Jake Delhomme and Marc Bulger all in camp at the same time his first year in New Orleans. Not bad. :)

We'll see what happens.
