Last season and even at pro camp I noticed that Feeley stares down the receiver he is going to throw to and that has to do with his turnover problem. Yes the line and all the problems we had last year contributed enormously but i would love for him to at least get in the habit of looking off other receivers

Yeah he did have that problem for a while, but once a certain person was removed and the coaches were allowed to actually "COACH" he started to look off.

He got better at it at the end of the season but he needs to to keep improving this aspect of his game.He also threw the ball on a low trajectory which resulted in a lot of batted down balls. He needs to learn how to put touch and arc the ball.Marino did these throws instinctively from the first time he started so no excuses.

He'll be doing it again this year until he gets comfortable in the new O..watch for it.

That is a problem that can be corrected with coaching.

I was thinking this could be coached out as long as he isn't running for his life. When the only chance of survival is the earliest possible throw to a specific read (remember, no hot routes) it's hard to remember to look around some first. They were shuting down the quick routes and trusting to his quick demise and it worked. In desperation he had to force many throws into coverage to get the ball away, often taking a solid shot just to do that. That line play and QB performace got better last year with a coaching change and some game reps I have hope. I really believe coach Hud when he spoke about all the contributors it takes for a good o-line performance. I think with a real coaching plan his "safe" time should dramatically improve and with some "safe" time the game will slow down for him and we'll get to see what he has.

Ok someone get me a smilie holding a sarcasm sign..... I forget how my sarcasm doesnt translate very well on the internet.

I did read a report I believe from the Palm Beach Post that he was still locking up on his receivers in mini-camp.

I agree with all of that. Feeley did show some improvement late in the year in both troubling aspects. The pass to Thompson to win the NE game had nice touch and was not one he could have made earlier in the season, IMO. Still, it's very rare for a QB to make the touch/arch adjustment after he's entered the league. Elway did to some extent but generally it's instinctive, as you pointed out.

He stopped towards the end of the season.

thats also why he became more succesful and threw more td's and we won games but then our o-line would always coem back in our faces and haunt us, but if he can performe just a notch ahead of that or better we will be in excellent shape this year;)

He did the same thing at the end of the year. He got lucky that a few ints were dropped at the end that were caught early in the year, but overall his play did not improve much even though the line did.
