Ajayi has been traded to Eagles for a 4th round pick

Listening to ESPN, they said there were two schools of thought.....that Ajayi was traded because of attitude and that it was a message or the Dolphins felt the knee issues were going to come to a head very soon and that they were looking at bone on bone.

In either case, I think is bad MO to trade your lead back while being in the middle of a playoff race. Sure, we are an incredibly lucky 4-3 and have played more like a 2-5 team with an incredible amount of luck, but still.

My other thought is how players on the team react to the trade. If there are quite a few vocal critics of it, then there likely is a division between the front office and players that doesn't bode well. If there aren't many vocal critics of it, then there likely could have been concerns about his attitude.

Not living near Miami, I'm going to have to rely on those that are in the area. What reaction have the players had?

Also, going forward, exactly who in the heck carries the ball? What I'm not comfortable with is the idea that the Dolphins 'felt they had the backs to pick up the slack'. If that was the thought, then why would Williams and Drake have only 24 carries between them this year? If it was an attitude issue, it doesn't sound like anything much was done this year to correct it.....i.e., his playing time certainly wasn't effected.

conditional means 4th is the highest if it meets the conditions
There was mention earlier that we'd receive the 2nd highest of their three 4ths. Whether it's the Pat's, Vikings or Eagles 4th seems to be "conditional" on their final records. I think that's where conditional applies.

I don't think Sinorice Perry is going to be a world beater, but I am intrigued by him and would give him some carries. He is a big, physical guy. Let him run inside for three or four yards a pop and shorten the chains. I'm fine with that.

Good luck to Jay. Nearly guaranteed playoffs and a decent O Line. I wish him the best. I hope he does well. Regarding the Phins Front Office and coaches?....meh! I'm pretty numb to the teams decisions over the years. Nobody is running behind that brick wall of an O Line. We got a 4th for Ajayi...the way the team has been run over the last 20 odd years that pick is probably going on a Punter. I'm not even joking. Hope I'm wrong but the negatives outweigh the positives when it comes to life as a Dolphin fan.

First time poster here but long time reader..I am not happy about the trade. I think it makes no sense and signals the beginning of the end of the Gase era

I hope you're right, but my expectations on a guy who has three years experience and has yet to get an NFL carry are not real high. The biggest question mark to me is why Drake wasn't getting any touches this year.....he was a guy who put up about 5 1/2 ypc on 30 carries last year. Damien Williams seemed to be a situational guy -- decent receiver out of the backfield and more willing to pass block than Ajayi, so he was our third down back.....but I can't see him shouldering any kind of extensive running load. I just don't know who is going to get carries.

My guess is that Drake has a similar problem to Ajayi as a runner in this offense: He tries to hit the home run. Adam Gase wants a guy who is gonna follow his blocks and make third down a little more manageable for Jay "Back Foot" Cutler.

I was only half joking when I suggested that the Dolphins pursue Trent Richardson. He's kind of exactly what we want right now. 2nd and 7 instead of 2nd and 12 with an off chance of 1st and 10 twenty yards downfield.

I'm fine with the decision to move on from Ajayi, and I'm fine with the 4th round compensation received. What I am not ok with is that we now only have to Drake and Williams, who are pretty bad RB's. Every game will now will depend on Matt Moore or Jay Cutlers play, and their play has been some of the worst I've seen in years from any QB. The running game won't be there to bail our QB's out.

For those of you that are upset about only getting a 4th rounder, let me ask you this: would you give up one of our 4th rounders for a RB who is averaging 3.6 yards per carry, 66.4 yards per game, doesn't follow his blocks, doesn't know the plays, and sulks or complains a lot? Probably not. Peace out Ajayi.

We lost his ****ty self serving attitude also. You think they traded him because they don't like his hair?
Yeah, well if you're looking for angels in a football team, you're gonna have trouble filling out the 53, that's all I gotta say. Just for reference, here are some other players with bad attitudes, Hollywood Henderson, Lawrence Taylor, Jack Lambert, Michael Crabtree, Karlos Dansby, Lawrence Timmons, Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman ... there might be one or two in that group who don't totally suck if a coach can handle them. Just a hunch.

And my only real counter here would be do you think Ajayi with tanny here averages that same 3.6 per?

Consider that tanny threw the ball at a full 2 yards per attempt clip over these current qb options

The difference between 5 and 7.5 effects more than just the pass game

I don't know, but I do know that when a guy storms off the field because he's upset that he isn't getting the ball enough, when he has 23 rushing attempts in the football game, as his team scores a game-tying touchdown during a ridiculous 4th quarter comeback, that I really don't give a damn if we trade him for a bag of peanuts or not.

Probably. He will get the occasional big game, but many of his games last year aren't worth remembering. The man is wildly inconsistent. I'm not saying he's a terrible back, but there's about a dozen or so RB's I'd choose over him right now.
