Alex Boone

The problem is that he wants a big new contract. I think most of us here agree that we don't want to have to invest most of our cash in our OL. That's not how you build a winner.

I would certainly invest a good chuck of our money on the OL, that is one place you don't want to get by on the cheap....we learned that lesson last yr......Trade Harline for Boone straight up, resign Boone for big money and go find a Center to take over for Pouncey after next season......James is cheap right now and will be for his rookie deal so you are only paying Albert and Boone big money and you will have a top 10 line for the next 4-6 yrs......our OL will be solid and deep for this and next year and if you draft well it will be deep for next few yrs.....

Alex Boone wasnt a first round pick, thus the Dolphins have no interest in him.

We are only 2 drafts away from the line being fixed, just give it time. By 2016 we should be good to go. Unless we have to replace someone, then naturally it will be delayed another year.

Why wait two yrs when it can be fixed now? Lets make a run for the Super bowl instead of waiting for everything to fall into place perfectly.....hell in two yrs we might be blowing this thing up and starting over again.......

Well I am open to trading dion jordan but is boone really a zone fit? 49ers are a power running team

What's everyone thoughts about possibly trading for Alex Boone of SF

I'm all in.....you put Colledge, Pouncey, Boone, and Albert...hell even if the rookie James totally sucks the o-line will still be great! Wouldn't give up higher than a 3rd but I would be all in. Offer a 5th that can go to a 4th or 3rd depending on the percentage of snaps he plays.

Doubtful.

- Pouncey big contract coming up

Pouncey might not get that deal in Miami. Too much trouble, the FBI investigation could end his career at any moment, I think Miami will let him walk and take the comp pick in all honesty. Especially if Philbin survives this year and is here long term

Unfortunately theres no draft "now". And i have it on good authority that this line can only be fixed with high draft picks, specifically first rounders.

No, we are in this for the long haul. The good thing is we already have 3 first rounders on the line, so just 2 more to go. Unless we let Pouncey walk next offseason, then it will of course take a 3rd draft to fix. And we might also have to draft Albert's replacement...so that might mean 4 drafts.

But as long as we keep spending first round picks on lineman eventually everything will work out and we'll make the playoffs. Eventually.

Meh.
I think you are overlooking our new OC and OL Coach. The previous two are no longer here and the current two have had success elsewhere. If they think we need to go after Boone , than so be it. Otherwise, let SF deal with that drama.
Like others I would be more interested in a LB, at this point.

the 9ers should trade Boone to us for a conditional 7th. sounds fair to me. if they balk throw in wheeler, ellerbe and misi.

Sounds like a good idea on the surface; but seems like there would be serious salary cap ramifications to this deal. I'm sure one of the F/H salary cap gurus could beak it down specifically.

I wouldn't mind bringing this guy in at all, particularly when considering Tannehill was top 5 in the league when throwing from a clean pocket (behind Manning, Brees, Brady, a hair behind Luck...I'd call that pretty good company).

boones the worst starting player on that san fran oline...unless you count jon martin who will likely get run in extra ot packages

Meh...he grades out around where Pouncey and Albert are...better than most of what we have.
