Alex Marvez: Packers WR James Jones to the Dolphins could happen

Alex Marvez was on the Joe Rose Show this morning and he mention how Packers WR James Jones could be on his way out in Green Bay due to his contract. He mentions he could be on the Dolphins radar if that is the case. Marvez goes on to say Jones could fill in immediately for the Dolphins.

If Jones gets released I have a hard time seeing him make it past Indy, St. Louis, Minnesota, Cleveland and Jacksonville (who still hasn't signed Justin Blackmon) before he gets to us. He's the 4th WR in Green Bay behind Jennings, Nelson and Driver (yes, Driver)...and he may even be behind Randall Cobb at this point so if the Packers want anything more than a 6th round pick in a trade I wouldn't even look their way.

Oh, and Marvez sucks.

Another opinion which I am far more inclined to believe then anything Marvez has to say.

This says it well.

James Jones — $2.3 million — Extremely doubtful that Thompson would do anything with Jones. For one, it would hardly be worth it, and secondly, the nice thing about Jones’ contract is the lack of bonus money makes him an good candidate to cut in future years. Until a receiver other than Greg Jennings or Jordy Nelson steps forward, Jones is easily worth his salary.

I agree with those saying it's a very big IF. The guy created 11.6 yards every time Aaron Rodgers looked his direction. He scored 7 touchdowns.

However, IF he does get cut then the Dolphins are a very big possibility. One reason I say that is because it would be so unimaginable for the Packers to just flat out cut him that if they do it, to me it's a sign that Joe Philbin has been a James Jones backer and now that Philbin is gone he doesn't have as much backing in the organization.

Until that Super Bowl, James Jones was actually ahead of Jordy Nelson on the depth chart. Wrap your mind around that for a second.

Not gonna happen. To get him we have to trade picks for him cuz he will not make it to us through the waiver wire. Anyone has been remotely paying attention, Philbin has stressed tons of times that he wants to build through the draft.

i hear that the pack wants to get randall cobb more involved...imo if anyone was gonna be cut it would be donald driver...but neither he or james jones cost money to where the pack have to do anything...

True but Jordy Nelson was having the worst season of his career, including college. He dropped more passes that year than I have ever seen him drop.

Still even if Jones was cut I would think Minnesota would pick him up in a heartbeat given their situation, plus being a division rival, plus running the same offense.

Packers need a backup & with rumors of Moore possibly on the block, Moore for Jones?

Did I not say a few days ago that I thought Matt Moore would get traded to Green Bay for James Jones????

there's talk that 6 rookies will not only make the pack roster but are expected to contribute...as such i would be surprised if a wr or te or two doesn't get the walking papers or traded...i think we'd have a much better shot at one of the te's getting to us on waivers...

James Jones drops more balls than Brandon Marshall folks. So, don't get too excited. YES he would be nice to add to our team, but he isn't "that good"

good luck getting james jones for matt moore...if the pack would do it i'd pounce...but keep in mind james jones is another #3 or #4 wr on a good football team...here though he'd probably be cast as a #2 i'd guess
