Alex Smith serious about Miami per Peter King

Regardless guys, we can't go into the season with Matt Moore, Losman, and Devlin.. I think Smith would be a good insurance policy as long as we don't overpay. What happens if we miss out on Tannehill or Weeden? Or if our staff has no faith that any of the rookies will be able to step in right away and play? What if we have no intention of taking a QB in this draft but instead use this year to fill as many holes as possible and go all in on a QB next draft. I think having Moore and Smith fight it out while building the rest of the team around them is better than wasting picks to trade up for Tannehill. And it's DEFINATELY better than bringing in Tebow. Smith finally had some good coaching and he played really well. 17 tds with only 5 picks in a run oriented offense with vernon davis as the only consistant receiving threat (a great one, but the only consistant one). I'd be ok with taking a chance on him. Besides, what better option do we have at this point?

King probably wrote this so when he returns to SF he can bash the FO again.

He did really well for a running team. Last 2 years he also show better numbers. Who ever under center go fins.

I think it'd be great to bring him here, but if we have to pay him 8 million +, it's a litte ridiculous. That being said, he had a great year under Harbaugh's variation of the west coast offense, and has been improving. Sounds like a good fit - which means it won't happen

Why do you feel that way?

He's had one good season in the NFL, coached by a excellent HC who gets the best out of QB's. I can see he reverting back to the old Alex Smith once he's sign his big contract. Could be wrong, but my gut says this would be a bad move for the organisation.

Sad thing is, Peyton Manning has 4 teams he lead on and he jilted them at the alter, and neither team got a rose.

$90 million contract with serious health issue concerns...?

13 and 3, and made it to the NFC championship game! **** ya I'd take him!!

I don't want him, but I want Tebow far less. If we brought in Smith and still drafted either Weeden or Tannehill, I'd be ok. But I liked Flynn better coupled with a double down move on Tannehill or Weeden.

Either way I want Tann or Weeden. Let's put some resources on the qb position in the first round this year.

im in for smith. bigger than moore. more physical than moore. bigger arm. His stats tell me he followed directions and took sacks vs. throwing INT's. I think if he got Philbins O down, he could be dangerous. thats right, i said it. I say Smith can count to 4.

Something else I like better about Smith is he will take off. Moore could have won a couple of games with his feet this year but crapped down his leg instead. Don't get me wrong, I like moore, he did some good things, he put us in position to win games, but also prevented us from winning others. I wouldn't mind bringing in Smith to compete.

Why do you people care about the money? It's not yours and obviously it's not getting spent well anyway.

You give Smith 8 Million per season and we have to cut players or restructure to make room. Also makes it hard to add any additional players which kills us. We have no WR's!

Right. Just re-sign with San Fran and save everyone the trouble, Alex. We know you don't want to be here.
